Re: Who won at DV today?
Kyle said 20 boats and Brian Linehan won his own event with 24 plus fishing alone. Sounds like a good payday. Rick G.

Congrats Birina,
Nice fish,
So tell us how you did it?
Enquiring minds want to know what baits to go buy at their local tackle store. LOL

Re: Who won at DV today?
Congrats Brian! Must have been that GREAT pre-fishing at Piru in 40+ winds.

Re: Who won at DV today?
Thanks everyone! Yeah Ron, Piru was a great prefish! lol
The weekend started off on the wrong foot when we all met at Castaic for the first derby in the So Cal Region and were greeted with 25-40 mph winds. The lake let us stage in the ramp and after an hour or so of telling ourselves that the wind was going to let down, we tucked our tails between our legs and decided to do a little turkey shoot at Piru which was also blowing like a SOB!
In all, I think we had 27 guys fishing at Piru and the biggest overall bass won the pot of $540. Brendan Widdick won the shoot with a 4.11 lber caught on a swimbait. The bite was crappy and the wind was unforgiving! Thanks to all of you guys who braved the conditions at Piru and fished in that mess. Even though the weather stunk, I think we all had fun. In fact, I think we should do more of those deals. No stress!
I had planned on fishing the DVL derby all week and couldn't wait. In fact, I was so excited that I forgot to bring a damn net! After launching everyone, I went to my first spot which was taken and decided to start in an area I haven't fished in 6 months. Within the first three areas, I had 20+ lbs in the boat and was fortunate to catch a 5 1/2 before I went in at 1:30. The bite out there was super tough, but the weather was beautiful.
First three fish were on swimbaits and most of my fish came on Phenix jigs and 7" Robos deeper than 40'. The Slider and Rago/Robo swimbaits have been working and I have another one that's not in production that's been good.
Big thanks to Jerry Rago and Roboworm for always coming through for me and the anglers. Also a special thanks to everyone who showed up yesterday. You guys are the best!
