Winter Fishing

Post by bigjosh15 »

I know that winter is practically here, and I know that the bit is getting even tougher. But I was wondering who still fishes in Winter for Large Mouth. Also if there are a few of you that are fishing for Large Mouth in the winter what are you throwing?????

I know that the reaction baits are basically turned off, and that its time to go to soft plastics. I was just wondering what every one else is throwing.

Josh - The Rip Bait bite is a solid bite for numbers out there right now. I have not ben able to get any size to them .... But they have mostly all been really green in color as well still. ~ So they just may still be burrowed down in the grass as far as I can deduct for myself.

Trying to get them to eat while in that grass has been almost non-productive as well for me at the same time. :?
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Rip baits and jigs are usually the best produers for me in the Winter. Last year while chasing stripers, I ran into a great rat-l-trap bite for blackies too along with a spinnerbait. But usually its black and blue/black and red jigs or rip baits in shad colors like Chartruese Shad, Ghost Minnow, American Shad on sunny days

Green pumpkin kalin grubs and S-20's on dropshot fished slow in the grass beds in 10-15 ft used to be very good in the dead end sloughs.
