With Special Interest do you think you have a say!

Post by Marty »

The Republican campaign for Juan McCain reported raising more than $22 million in June. Democrat campaign for Barack Obama raised $52 million last month. The Republican National Committee began July with about $95 million in the bank while Democratic National Committee ended June with nearly $72 million in the bank. Do you really believe it is coming at a dollar at a time? Do you really believe it is all US money!

This does not include the soft money that is provided because of McCain-Feingold Act! While the two candidates and the two parties are rolling in the money – the mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are filing for bankruptcy. The Treasury Secretary wants to step in with a line of credit from $2.25 billion to $300 billion dollars of tax payer money (Your Money).

The ironic thing is both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac gave $800 thousand to the Democrat party while Fannie Mae had $727 billion in its portfolio of sub-prime alt-A and other paper and Freddie Mac had $712 billion. That's $1.4 trillion in own assets that under the new regulatory rules could place U.S. taxpayers on the hook. You just got ducked!

Do you know which special interest has given more money to the Obama and Clinton campaigns than any other? Let me answer that for you "trial lawyers".

But can you guess which special interest came in second? Labor unions? Nope. The Green Lobby? Nope. AARP? Wrong, again.

Let me give that answer too - Wall Street. That would include Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. That's right. According to CNNMoney.com, Wall Street securities and investment firms have given over $35 million to Democratic candidates this election cycle. And the amount they've given to the Clinton and Obama campaigns is nearly five times the amount they've given to McCain. If you've been wondering why the financial industry has been in meltdown -- and taking your 401(k) or investment portfolio down with it -- now you know.

We need to get the money out of Politics!
