Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
In the Bass West USA magazine June/July 07 issue, there is an article discussing the Zappu Inchi Wacky Head Jig Heads. It is also mentioned in the Matt Paino - Optimum Lures article.
I just received my order of 1/16 and 1/8 oz. sizes. I'm looking for any tips or advise on how to fish these. Everything I've found on the internet search engines is basically what the article says or the Optimum Lures web site says. Trying something new in Ohio.

Narcdogk9 thanks for the information. I had already read it. It's essentially what the magazine articles and Optimum Lures web site says. Again thanks for answering.

Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
Ohio,
The best baits to use for the Jig Head Wacky are senkos and Zoom trick worms.
The most effective way to fish them is cast it out and let it sink. You can let it sink on it's own or you can shake it a on lose line on the fall. Once it hits the bottom just shake it lightly on slack line. If you do it on a tight line then you move the bait to much and take out some of the action.
It's great technique and some of us have been doing it for a couple of years under the radar but now it's out.
Good luck!

Those hooks are pretty expensive. What's the difference between that and crimping on a spilt shot?
Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
My sentiments exactly!
Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
The difference is that instead of lead the heads are powdered tungsten and the hooks are of a high quality sprong steel. These hooks have a special bend to them. They are easier to shake out of a rocky snag than lead.

My best all around size is the 3/32 oz.. If you are fishing a 6 or 7 " senko go with the 1/8 oz size for 4" and 5" senkos I use the 3/32 oz. . over grass beds use the 1/16 oz and a zoom trick worm. The Robo straight or f/x worms work well also.

Like Chris said the hooks are high quality and very strong. Gamakatsu just is releasing their version of it just as Jackall is.
In this case cheaper isn't better. Spend the extra money they are worth it. I have two full pegs of them at home. Thanks to Chris and his son Adam. I swear everytime I talk to Adam it costs me more money. Damn him!
I throw 3/32 most of the time. My two favorite baits are the 5" Senko and the Zoom trick worm. If caught several fish over 7 lbs. on it at Clear lake and I have only been there twice. I hope to make up this fall.

Thanks to everyone that has replied.
Looks like I'll be ordering some 3/32 oz. as the baits I'll be using are 4 to 6 inch worms, as well as 5 inch Senko's. ( I ordered only 1/16 and 1/8 sizes ) Here in Ohio we're fishing for bass that are on average 1 to 1 1/2 pounds. I have a 2 day Championship tournament this coming weekend, and I'll be trying these if times are tough. ( Tough meaning no crankbait bite. ) I'll post a follow up on what I find out about these jigs.

Try this technique along steeb banks with riprap, Steep rock face walls and steep banks. Also on the outside edge of weed beds. I use 6 and 8 pound test flurocarbon by Maxima.

Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
I have been using the Zappu Inchi Wacky jig heads for a couple of years now. Initially, as a finesse only technique in deep water on light line. Over time this has evolved to much heavier tackle and bubba baits. At lakes like Clear Lake and in the Delta 15 pound flurocarbon and fishing them in tules, heavy grass, rock piles, steep rocky banks, and docks. The are amazing in the way that come through everything with so few hang ups. I have tried several similar products but so far nothing compares to Zappu.
My advice is very simple, do NOT just fish it the way that you see in magazines. It is not just a finesse bait. Fish bigger baits, like a senko, 7x Kut tail, big lizard, big worm. Go heavier. I use 15 lb Seaguar and a medium heavy rod on Clear lake and the Delta. Lighter and more finesse presentation on deep clear lakes. Try variations, like working a senko like a jig, with short hops and shakes or drag it like a split shot. There are many ways to fish this jig.. Fish it in rocks, weeds, and tules and you will be amazed that with the open hook you loose so few ( sweep set like a senko ). Seldom use a weed guard, mostly 3/32.
Bassdozer will be producing a wacky jig soon at a much lower cost.

Lets just announce to the rest of the world that don't know about how to fish them how to fish them. lol............. hope some of the other crap stays hush hush, lol
Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
Come on hollywood George Kramer already did an article on this technique. He just hasn't used like we have been. Also don't forget agout skipping this rig under docks and along side of pilings.
Bassdozer can copy this head but where is he going to get a spring steel hook like on the Zappu heads.

Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
Maybe I am wrong, but this site is mostly about sharing ideas, opinions, and techniques. Even secrets. I have learned a lot here, Just today Cooch had a lengthy response to a question that really made me think. Perhaps we should all try to give back a little.
Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
your right Chuck, and there are many things that are kept a secret among bass fisherman. Even TTCAL has a new secret swimbiat.
Should he come on here and tell everyone in the world what this bait is or should he enjoy the thing he stumbled upon... What is good now may not be as hot once 6000 West Coasters are doing it...
Just my opinion but then again I don't always share the things i learn... But ask Gator hes seen them jig heads in action, even lost a big fish, oh and a strightened hook!
and while were on the subject of sharing info, we should all just give up our gps cordinates to where we be catchin them fish too? Is that sharing?

Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
Ahhh, I did say "give back a little". There is no need to tell all, but then a secret that is two years old has already spread. It's the nature of fishing that we all learn constantly just to stay even. Remember when the Senko was a secret. Nail weights. Wacky. Sometimes it’s better to share what you know but just to the point where there is enough information to allow someone who is truly interested to start experimenting. A jump start, not a blueprint. It will cause me no harm if someone gets an idea from me and develops it. But that rock pile at is already visited by too many boats. What I am experimenting with now will be shared with select friends only.
Bottom line, sharing is a good thing and we all should do more of it. But only to the point of a jump start if it is not widely known. My thoughts anyway.

This has been around for a while.. Adam was the first I ever heard mention it.. like 3 years ago.. Since then, we have had an artricle on it, Kramer did an article on it.. and its been getting spread around more and more!

My 12 year old daughter was reading this thread over my shoulder yesterday, and said Zappu Inchi sounded like a curse from Harry Potter.
Maybe they have a spell on them to hook fish.

Re: Zappu Inchi Wacky Jig Heads - Help
Hollywood what are you using to straighten out the hooks? Braid? I've not had one straighten out and my biggest is an 8.5 on 12 lb. that I had to pull around a pilon.
I do agree with Chuck you can use it with bigger bubba baits, I know I have.
Ohio if the bite is tough you can never work it to slow.
Good luck! Let us know how you do.
BTW Hollywood we are using a new technique that we are keeping hush hush.

nope I dont use braid for these little jigs.... And yes you can land big fish on them...
Ask Gator, hes seen one straighten out on the delta under a dock!
I use them regularly, I prolly have 50 in each size sittin in my boat now. I never run low, lol....the lake i live on i dont use them though...
about your hush hush secret, cool, glad you got one.... try and keep it that way.... thats the point right?
