Anglers Compete In First High School All-American Tournament
As part of the Zippo Bassmaster BASSfest presented by A.R.E. Truck Caps, the 12 Bassmaster All-Americans were paired with 12 Bassmaster Elite Series pros and earned a chance to fish with the pros on Lake Barkley. Aaron Martens breaks down Havasu win
Aaron Martens won the Bassmaster Elite series event on Lake Havasu with a total weight of 68lbs 9oz over four days of competition. While many anglers figured the largemouth bite would fade from angler pressure, Martens actually weighed in better limits of the green fish as the event wore on finishing the tournament on a high note with his best bag of the derby: 19lbs 5oz.

As his hopes of becoming a major league baseball pitcher began to fade, Jerry McKinnis gave himself over to another passion: fishing. Baseball's loss was fishing's gain as McKinnis progressed from local television fishing show host to cable television pioneer to bass fishing icon. It's all documented in McKinnis' homespun style in his new autobiography, Bass Fishing, Brown Dogs & Curveballs, to be released this week. His bass fishing and baseball exploits are just part of what McKinnis calls "a very interesting 78-year adventure."
