High School BASS Nation Open April 29th Lake Oroville
On April 29 on Lake Oroville in Oroville, Calif., high school anglers from all of the western states can compete in a one-day tournament, the 2017 Costa Bassmaster High School Western Open presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, for a chance to compete for the national title.

California's Ocean Salmon Fishery Partially Open
California’s recreational salmon fishery will open in ocean waters on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from Horse Mountain (40° 05’ 00” N. latitude) south to the U.S./Mexico border. The recreational salmon fishery north of Horse Mountain will remain closed for all of 2017 due to historically low numbers of Klamath River fall Chinook salmon.
