Congratulations again to the only consecutive 2 time WON BASS California Open Champ Wayne Breazeale and AAA Champion James Bunker. It was an awesome event, and we can't wait till next year. We are working on the dates for 2018 currently. Below are the basic payouts for the event.

Hi All, Welcome to the summer issue of WesternBass Magazine. With all of the rain we encountered this past winter, we have the possibility for fishing lakes that have been low for some time plus, with the snow pack these waters should remain hi throughout the summer. I hope to the season finds you all out fishing these great conditions. The year has seen large attendance for many of the circuits - Wild West, Best Bass Tournaments and Future Pro Tour, WON Bass, which are all site advertisers. I want to thank you all for supporting our advertisers, without them, this site and the WesternBass.com digital publication that you are reading wouldn’t be possible. Please continue to support them as they make all of this possible. We have many things to look forward to during our summer season. Something WesternBass always enjoys is the trip to ICAST. As usual we be on the floor to bring you a glimpse at the new items coming from your favorite manufacturers. We will be excited to finally here what the top secret Yo-Zuri product is that is being covertly advertised in this issue (click to see!). I also am excited for the upcoming summer specialty events that take place each year, like the Yamamoto Big Bass Challenge, the Snag Proof Open and the Ultimate Frog Challenge. Launched out of Russo's just before 7:30. Water was still in the mid 60's at the ramp. Ran around and caught a few small keepers. Was about to go in when the wind started to pick up but made one more stop and finally got some quality.

HUNTER SCHLANDER WINS FLW SERIES WESTERN DIVISION TOURNAMENT ON CALIFORNIA DELTA
Boater Hunter Schlander of Modesto, California, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 21 pounds, 13 ounces Saturday to win the Costa FLW Series Western Division tournament on the California Delta presented by Power-Pole. Schlander’s three-day total of 15 bass weighing 57 pounds, 1 ounce was enough to earn him $81,668, including a new Ranger Z518C boat with a 200-horsepower Evinrude outboard.

California, Arizona Qualify Teams For High School Championship

California Halibut Fishery Opens Today
The 2017 recreational Pacific halibut fishery will commence Monday, May 1 for the first of four open periods. This season's dates are May 1-June 15, July 1-15, Aug. 1-15 and Sept. 1-Oct. 31, or until the quota is reached, whichever is earlier. The open and closed periods are intended to provide fishing opportunities from spring through fall.

2017 Abalone Survey Participation Deadline Extended in California
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has extended the deadline to participate in an online public survey about recreational fishing for red abalone. To allow for greater participation, the survey will be open through April 30.

The California B.A.S.S. Nation wins the team competition Thursday with 293 pounds, 12 ounces at the Academy Sports + Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation Western Regional presented by Magellan on Lake Shasta. Nick Wood of California is leading the individual competition with a two-day total weight of 27-9.
