Hatchery getting a $3.3 million renovation

One Million chinook salmon released into Sacramento River
CDFW releases more than 20 million fish each year. However, the Sacramento River release is a relocation. The salmon would normally be released along the Feather River. The location was moved about 35 miles downstream to the Sacramento River.

Rescued Steelhead Released into Feather River | CDFW Stocking Half -Million
Hatchery trucks from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) today began the weeklong process of stocking a half million young steelhead smolts on the Feather River near Yuba City. The 125,000 fish released Monday were the first of the fish reared from eggs rescued from the Feather River Fish Hatchery during last year’s Feather River spillway failure. Plants will continue through Thursday near Yuba City.

25 million plus fish stocked this year already
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today announced the totals from its spring and summer fish stocking efforts. The DNR stocked a total of 25,470,199 fish that weighed more than 320 tons and consisted of 11 different species and one hybrid.

76 Million Acres Offered in Gulf of Mexico Region-Wide Oil and Gas Lease Sale
U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke today announced that the Department would offer 75.9 million acres offshore Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida for oil and gas exploration and development. The region-wide lease sale scheduled for August 16, 2017 would include all available unleased areas in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico and provide a reduced royalty rate for shallow water leases to encourage exploration and production under current market conditions.
