POTUS Plans Northwest Hawaiian Islands Marine National Monument Expansion
Alexandria, VA – August 26, 2016 – Today, President Obama announced a vast expansion of the Northwest Hawaiian Islands Marine National Monument, known as Papahanaumokuakea, out to 200 miles or the limits of the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone, creating the world’s largest marine protected area. In 2006, President George W. Bush created the monument with a boundary which extended to 50 miles and excluded recreational fishing.

Los Padres National Forest Trails and Roads in Burn Area Closed Due to Soberanes Fire
A forest closure order has been implemented to close the trails and roads within the Los Padres National Forest, Monterey Ranger District due to the Soberanes fire burning in Monterey County. The order prohibits going into or being upon National Forest Service lands within the Soberanes Fire area.

Yamaha Volunteers Return to Rehabilitate San Bernardino National Forest
Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, employees returned to the San Bernardino National Forest this past weekend to volunteer their time in support of projects aiding the popular Summit OHV Staging Area. Working with members of the Southern California Mountains Foundation (SCMF) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), the effort represented the eighth year of Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative volunteer projects in one of the nation's busiest forests.
