Feds permit killing sea lions in Oregon to save fish
According to the release, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) approved ODFW’s application to lethally remove the California sea lions that are present at Willamette Falls in order to help save winter steelhead and spring Chinook salmon from extinction.

DFW Details New Electronic Licensing System for Oregon
ODFW’s new electronic licensing system (ELS) will allow customers to store their licenses, tags and validations online on their smart phone or tablet. Customers can also choose to carry paper documents, but will be able to purchase and print these documents from home using regular paper. The new system will also allow for electronic tagging of fish and game using an app that will work even when offline.

Last Day of Free Fishing This Weekend in Oregon Today
It’s free to fish, crab or clam in Oregon on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2. During these two days, no fishing licenses or tags (including a Combined Angling Tag or Columbia River Basin Endorsement) are required to fish, crab or clam anywhere in Oregon for both residents and non-residents. Although no licenses or tags are required, all other fishing regulations apply including closures, bag limits and size restrictions.

Marine Fish Bag Limit Decreases July 1 for Oregon
Beginning July 1, 2018, the general marine fish bag limit will decrease to 4 fish per angler per day. The general marine fish bag limit includes all species of rockfish (yelloweye rockfish prohibited at all times), greenlings, skates, and all other marine species not listed on pages 81-82 of the 2018 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations.

Algae Bloom cause of Civil Emergency alert in Oregon

Oregon Coast Now Open for Mussel Harvesting
The Oregon Department of Agriculture and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife announce the reopening of recreational and commercial mussel harvesting from the south jetty of the Columbia River to the north jetty of Yaquina Bay at Newport. Shellfish samples taken from the area indicate levels of the paralytic shellfish toxin (PST) have dropped below the alert level. The area was originally closed to mussel harvesting October 13.
