Program to Capture and Recycle Used Fishing Line
eep an eye out for special bins placed along the Little Red River at boat ramps, access points and popular boat docks this year. The Little Red River Foundation and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission have kicked off a program to capture and recycle used fishing line on and around the river. Local students, LRRF members and AGFC officials will place recapture bins at all approved sites in the next few weeks.

Sacramento River Closure to Go Into Effect April 1
A temporary emergency regulation closing all fishing within 5.5 miles of spawning habitat on the Upper Sacramento River begins on April 1, 2016 and will remain in effect through July 31, 2016. Enhanced protective measures are also proposed in the ocean sport and commercial salmon fisheries regulations for the 2016 season.

Washington Suspends Harvest Limits on Bass, Walleye and Channel Cats on Columbia River and Tributaries
Starting March 3, anglers can fish for bass, walleye and channel catfish without daily catch or size limits from the mouth of the Columbia River 545 miles upstream to Chief Joseph Dam. An emergency rule approved by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) removes the remaining limits for those species on the Columbia River downstream from the Washington/Oregon state line, 17 miles above McNary Dam.

Invasive Mudsnails Detected in Lower Feather River; Anglers and Boaters Urged to Help Prevent Spread
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has confirmed the presence of New Zealand mudsnails in the low-flow section of the Feather River in Butte County, and is asking recreational users of the river to “clean, drain and dry” fishing and recreational gear and watercraft in order to help prevent the spread of these invasive snails.
