When the situation calls for a reel durable enough to cast larger lures and fight bigger fish, and is equally at home in either fresh or saltwater, Shimano offers two new sizes to its Tranx baitcasting reel series – the 300 and 400. Joining the popular Tranx 500HG and 500PG (a huge favorite among musky anglers and saltwater tuna and striper anglers alike), each new Tranx is offered in four models – the Tranx 300, 400, left-hand retrieve 301 and 401 with powerful 5.8:1 gear ratios; and the Tranx 300HG, 400HG, left-hand retrieve 301HG and 401HG, all with fast 7.6:1 gear ratios.

Something's Fishy" Wins Big Using Shimano Offshore Spinning Tackle

While most teams rely on trolling techniques when fishing the recent Tri-State Canyon Shoot-Out, Captains Jack Sprengel and Lou DeFusco had other ideas for Team 'Something's Fishy'. Along with boat owners Frank Will and Karen Fish Will and anglers Sandra and Kevin Fish, the team instead went the unconventional route using poppers and jigs, all rigged on Shimano's brand new Twin Power 14000SW spinning reels – spooled with 65-pound PowerPro - and mounted on new Ocea Plugger Flex Limited spinning rods. Their efforts paid off by landing a yellowfin tuna, dolphin and albacore to win the event's 'Tri-Fishecta' category and the $30,000 prize.
