What’s New with River2Sea | New Topwater Prop Baits, Frog with a Trailer System, Plastic Coated Spoons with a Stinger and More

River2Sea has several new products coming to market. They released new topwater lure, a new frog, a spoon, a hook and several new colors for some of their most popular baits.

Their presence was also felt in new products released at ICAST as several brands had “Plopper- style” baits after the huge success of their River2Sea Whopper Plopper.

Here is what is new with River2Sea for 2018:

New Topwater Lures

Included in the new products were three new topwater prop baits designed with the help of Bassmaster Elite Series pro and 2012 Bassmaster Classic champion Chris Lane.

Even though they are all topwater lures and each feature a prop of some type, they are much different in size and where they will work best. They vary based on whether they have one or two props as well as the materials that are used to build the props.

The three new surface baits designed with Lane are the Lane Changer, the Top Notch, and the Big Mistake.

River2Sea Lane Changer | Topwater Prop Bait

The props on this bait are a soft plastic and this gives it a unique sound and action. It is intended for calm water and has a finesse type action. The wake it puts off is small and subtle. It has a slender profile and is six-inches in total length and weighs in at 7/16-ounce.

River2Sea Top Notch | Single Prop Topwater

This bait is much bulkier and measures in at five inches long. It has just one prop, but it moves large amounts of water and creates a big wake. The bait excels when bluegill and other panfish are spawning and the bass are looking for a big meal. The Top Notch also creates a bubble trail when worked on the surface.

River2Sea Big Mistake | Big Bass Bulky Topwater

Like the name sounds, this bait wasn’t what they intended when starting the design, but Lane and River2Sea loved it and how it looked in the water. It is a big bait, a 130 size and five-inches long. It also weighs a hefty ¾-ounce. The bulk of the bait creates a big action on the surface and this will be a good choice for big bass hunting.

River2Sea Ish’s Phat Mat Daddy Frog | Frog with a Trailer System

Bassmaster Elite Series pro is known as one of the best with a frog and his new frog with River2Sea was built just to his specifications. Everything from the softness of the plastic to the hook placement was up to him and it was designed to increase both hookup and landing percentages. It weighs ¾-ounce and is more than heavy enough to reach far away mats and froggy cover. Also new is the trailer system that can hold a rattle or Whopper Plopper tail for added attraction.

River2Sea Worldwide Spoon | Plastic Coated Spoon with a Stinger Hook

FLW tour pro James Watson is a spoon fanatic and this new model was built to his specifications. It has a plastic coating on it and he claims bass hold on to it better than the solid metal ones. It is also equipped with a stinger hook similar to some saltwater spoons for the best hookups and also allow for the chance at hooking two fish at once.

As far as action, Watson wanted a spoon that has the right balance and falling speed. He described it as not too heavy and not too light.

River2Sea Rig Walker | Swimbait Update

Another new product was an improvement to the Rig Walker swimbait. The bait itself is the same, but they have added a ring at the bottom of the bait for anglers to add a stinger hook or blade.

River2Sea PT Hook | Perfect Plastics Hook

Peter Thilveros was the pro angler who helped design this hook and it has all of the features he wanted in a hook – a welded keeper and a modified round bend to give the hook the perfect angle from hook point to the eye. As he explains it, this is the best way to rig plastics correctly and also get the best hookup percentage. The PT hooks are available in 3/0, 4/0, and 5/0.

New River2Sea Colors for 2018

In addition to all of the new baits, they have also added some new colors to some of their baits. The Ish Monroe Biggie squarebill and Bling spinnerbait  have new colors. As do the Spittin’ Wa, Biffle Junkyard Jig, S-Waver, Ruckus, and Goon. The topwater Rover, Bubble Popper and Bubble Walker also have new colors to choose from.

Here are the new colors available:

  • Biggie squarebill and Goon crankbait –Rooster
  • Bling – Iced, Blue Gill and Golden Shiner
  • Spittin’ Wa – Firebelly, a firetiger pattern
  • Biffle Junkyard Jig – Sooner Craw and Cooter
  • S-Waver – Hitch and Horizon Shad (both for the 168 and 200 size only)

River2Sea continues to build great products that anglers want. Their newest designs are all impressive and should help catch more bass.
