Bass Fishing World Championship Competition in Mexico

USA Bass team to chase “Giants” at Bass Fishing World Championship!

The USA Bass team will compete with nations from around the world this October 29th thru November 3rd in Mexico on Lake Cuchillo at the Bass Fishing World Championship. The world championship will include teams from Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and South America. The USA team includes seven members of the Silver medal winning team from the 2017 Bass Fishing World Championship held in South Africa; Scott Martin (shown right), David Dudley, Mark Rose, Scott Canterbury, James Watson, David Fritts, Fred Roumbanis and Terry Bolton.

Lake Cuchillo is Intensively managed by the Mexican government and Sportfishing Confederation for trophy bass. The lake record is currently held at 14# 9oz. Mexican Sportfishing Federation president Luis Miguel explains the reason for the lake’s huge largemouth bass. “The lake was stocked with Florida strain largemouth bass donated by Texas Fish and Wildlife. The fishing community has imposed a catch and release mentality which has resulted in large numbers of trophy bass. We are excited to host the World Championship on this great lake!”

The team members are definitely excited about the chance of catching double digit fish. “It is a dream of mine to catch a ten pound bass and win the Gold medal. I have never caught a ten pounder in all my years of bass fishing” says USA Bass team veteran David Dudley.

One thing is for sure, you better go BIG or GO HOME when it comes to tournaments on this lake. Anglers from all over the world are assembling to hang some “Giants” and go for the Gold. It will be exciting to see just what comes out of the water on Lake Cuchillo at the 2018 Bass Fishing World Championships!
