what to eat in the boat?
what to eat in the boat?
I know it sounds kinda wierd and will probably create a picture of the kind of person you may be. This could actually be fun, ssssooooo..... What kind of food do you grub on while in a tourney or just fun fishing? Do you store any snacks / food in the boat, if so what? Myself, I store dry fruit and maybe some Jerky, a box of Cheezits or Wheat thins and some kind of candy. DB dishes me what he calls "Scooby Snacks".....dried Mango slices when I'm catching fish! Me again, I will say that the absolute #1 fast-food leftover and cold in the cooler is a Del Taco chicken soft taco with no lettuce and I guaranty you will agree, swing through a 24hr store on the way to the pond.....eat a couple and throw a few in the cooler, I swear, you'll see
. A couple waters and some sugar free Red Bulls. I know some don't eat and maybe just drink because there is no time ( and maybe waiting for a good post tourney bbq
). I know it's important, but with the recent buzzkill thread(s) I thought I would get something different going. We ALL do this in the boat....so let's share your preference. No need to get too descriptive either cause for some reason I just thought about Pete and Guy talking about hippie in some kind of banana hammock
no really what do ya like?

Let see now, Jerky ,trailmix by the hand full ,Usually a couple Subway's ,and a box of cheezits .Wash it down with water ,cokes ,and a six pak of Low-Carb Monster...whew...Amazing I dont weigh 500 lbs Huh ...Charlie
Re: what to eat in the boat?
I go with water, a 16oz pepsi, and a sandwich. I am big on eating before I put in. I think a good breakfast before a T sets me up for the day. CJ got me started on the carrot cake Clif Bar and I am here to tell you, one of those around 9 and one at noon and I am ready to go. But there are the usual junk foods sometimes, but a bag of jalapeno cheetos at 2 is sometimes just what the doctor ordered

Damn Lance, you left off the myzithra cheese and the chianti. No wonder you bought a Ranger, there is no way you could justify eating that spread off the deck of a Nitro

Really, I don't eat a thing before and during. Just drinks and a lot of dinner before and after.

Bad luck? Naaaaaa, you just have to set them out in the sun for an hour or so, that gets rid of the "badness", then your good to go.

OK, here's what will stick in your stomach for about three days:
O'Dell Burgers
slice of Wonder Bread
mustard
sliced sweet pickle
slice of American cheese
Miracle Whip
slice of bologna
mustard
slice of American Cheese
sliced sweet pickle
slice of bologna
Miracle Whip
slice of Wonder Bread
4,000 calories
800 grams of trans fat
one pound of cholesterol
One huge knot in your stomach, no hunger whatsoever. Better when made fresh on the water. Garnish with Nacho cheese Doritos. Wash down with 20 oz. Coke.
I swear I've eaten these things and have lived to tell about it.

Guy isnt kidding.....
Dude doesnt eat anything in the morning or during the day. He cracks me up because I'm so different.
On tournament day I always have an orange juice for breakfast with some kind of breakfast sandwich to start me off. Then I'll snack on a candy bar or hot tamlales candy in between spots. I will also have a couple mountain dews in the boat and usually a Monster energy drink (Mean Bean or Loca Moca) in case I need a pick me up.
I think it is extremely important to fuel your body in the morning then go from there. Guy is a freak...dude never eats.
I used to rock the Slim Fast in the morning then again around noon and that would do me just fine for the day...but Ive changed that a bit.

Smuckers Crustables...PB & J, or PB and Honey. You buy them frozen and by the time they thaw out they are perfect. Unwrap em, and 4 bites later your done. Perfect while moving to the next spot. Bag of Chip, protien bar, and some Gatorade or water.
Stay away from the Pepper plant sauce the night before!

In order to keep from falling asleep at
10am (and also to keep my stomach lining intact) I stay away from Red Bull, but a lift off and protein bar early in the morning before I head to the lake usually works well. Another couple of bars during the day, along with a couple of multi vitamins and total control (appetite control) vitamins during the day, and some gatorade, and I am good for the day. I think it is really important to keep nutrition intact when you are out on the water in order to keep alert and healthy (just ask DL about how I used to fall asleep in the back of his boat all the time)!! Also, in case you guys have not seen it, this is a pretty cool article about proper nutrition out on the water, and check out how many calories some of these guys burn off during a tournament day...

I always pack the cooler. (3-4) bottles of water, (3) gatorades, snickers bars, granola bars, trail mix, chips, cookies, and a couple PB&J. While on the fishing the T I forget to eat and may have a couple of bottles of water. By weigh-in I am usually starved and dehydrated.
God Bless

PB&J. Usually two sammiches and then lots of water and power/energy bars around 10-11AM when breakfast decides to wear off. Keep it simple

Re: what to eat in the boat?
I keep mine rather simple.
2 hard boiled eggs in the morning washed down with a Monster Lo carb (Gotta keep the figure in check) and an energy bar.
Lunch is usually a sandwich or various meats and cheese, celery sticks w/ pb and raisins and trail mix. I always bring extra energy bars in case I get hungry again and more water.
Also an Immodium AD the nite before to nip the #2 in the bud during tourneys.
