**** Update****
Troy,
If you could I would like your help to clarify a few points on the guidelines for Cruiser Haven. As I’ve stated, bass fishermen are welcome to fish at Cruiser however, as with other marinas they need to respect the privacy of our tenants. The docks and slips are intended for the tenants of Cruiser Haven. Please respect this and do not fish from within or cast into the slips and under no circumstances is casting onto the docks or across mooring lines acceptable. We have amenities planned in the future for Cruiser and look forward to accommodating various boating activities for visitors to Cruiser as well as the tenants, but the current docks and slips are for tenants only. I failed to clarify this in the previous e-mail. Distance ... Please be aware as with anywhere on the water, maintaining a distance for privacy and safety is an absolute necessity.
In my tenants defense I can attest that the tenant mentioned in this post is a retired Principal and is generally a very kind and pleasant person; as a matter of fact he is one of our most kind and considerate tenants. Unfortunately, he has had a few... lets say … bad apples... who have taunted and once even hooked his cat. Understandably he was very angry when his cat was hooked by a fisherman’s lure and as a result has some apprehensions when fishermen are fishing nearby and even more so when they intentionally cast onto the dock. I hope to get some video of this happening so I can post it on YouTube. Also, there were two other tenants who witnessed the most recent incident. The tenants did call the Sheriff and were told by the responding officer that they were within their rights and to contact them again if there are any further problems.
From what I have been told there has been multiple fishermen casting onto the docks recently and several tenants believe that the casting onto the docks taunting the pets has become a game among some of the fishermen suffering from the Darwin syndrome (stupidity ~ or lack of evolutionary thought processes). I am told they have been heard saying things like "10 points for the cat" or "20 for the dog". As a result of this "game" the problems for my tenants at Pier 1 have been escalating so I cannot blame them for being rather angry about the whole thing. If it persists I will have no other choice than to set more strict guidelines for the management of Cruiser Haven. The other less serious problem we have is boat wakes. As anyone who owns a bass boat is, or should be aware, bass boats, even though their small, produce a rather large wake at slow speeds. The entrance to Cruiser is a little narrow and any wake given off by passing boats doesn't have time to dissipate by the time it reaches the docks. Many times we have bass boats who leave quite a bit faster than when they come in.
Please be considerate and watch your wake.
In case anybody has been watching the news lately a man was recently arrested and faces serious prison time for beating his dog. If we do obtain video or evidence of any incidents involving intentional "luring" of innocent animals we will as a group file charges and pursue maximum penalties... and I am sure we would have the full cooperation of the fishing forums in doing so.
Fishermen are welcome to fish in the marina, all we ask is to be courteous and respect the right to privacy of our tenants. The slips and docks are for tenants only and are off limits... please respect this rule.
Please visit our website at

Sincerely,
Kevin Hinman
