Re: New fisherman looking for help with a boat
Don't forget about buying something that you are able to store! The sun will destroy a glass boat. If you are unable to keep it in a garage make sure you have a good cover to keep the elements off of it. I have a Ranger 188vx and I still have to put it sideways in my garage. Good luck!

Bullards Bar info
I talked with a lady at the "check" station this afternoon at the dark day ramp. She stated that rangers are currently giving information only. By next year they will be checking for mussels and the following year they will charge to enter. So I asked what they might charge. She said possi...

I have a 188vx and love it. I'm also not a tournament guy just a fun fishermen but I'm not sure what else I would want on a boat. The ride is smooth. Wide deck. I think the big difference is the other boat comes with a 200hp (I should say rated for a 200). if you want to take a look at my boat I'm i...

Fiberglass repair?
Can anybody recommend a fiberglass repair guy in the Yuba City/Marysville area? I have a small dime sized bubble in my gel coat. Its still covered under warranty but the two options I have to take it too are pretty far (Anderson, CA or Modesto, CA). As much as I would spend on gas I would hope to ta...

I didn't get to see it in the water. I was idling out when you guys pulled up to the ramp. I had a good day, caught a 5-11 on my second cast. I was fishing solo in the white/purple Ranger. How did you guys do?

Like Fred said, you can park alongside the ramp at the dam and save a long walk.
Looked like they put in some kind of Ranger check station as you enter the parking lot. Maybe they will start charging to launch next year?

Try US Bank. I had a loan through them on my used boat. I also have a loan through them on my new boat. They beat everybodies intrest rate. You will have to go through there Marine/RV division as Mike V.W. and I found out. Good luck.

Bullards Bar Reservoir is about 8 miles out of Dobbins, CA or about 35 miles North East of Marysville, CA. Its on the Yuba River.
I was fishing there yesterday and it sounds like I just got out of there before the fire started.

ACM, Since you will be that far it would be worth your while to throw a few casts at Loon Lake. Its about 15 miles further than Icehouse. Ive caught some decent size trout from the bank in years past. Just a thought.

I would say that if you DONT have a plug in there you would know for sure!!!! The plug fits in a 3/4 or inch hole so if you didnt have one the boat would fill up with water fast and your bilge would be pumping out a stream of water!!! I know from experience!!!

Nothing wrong with a 870. They are reliable, cheap and should last forever. The 870 is a pump shotgun. Most law enforcment agency's carry 870's so that should show you how reliable they are....I have one (that I won at a dinner, and its a 20 guage). Decent guns. Not a bad gun to start with....
