Re: Casitas Inspection (longer)
hmmm, french? not sure i get it... anyhow, back to my point: We are all in a tough situation with our local lakes. Lake staff are probably just as pissed about these procedures as we are. They are just doing what they are told, and will make mistakes just like the rest of us do. Giving them attitude...

Re: Casitas Inspection (longer)
Yup, the place is a business run by the bottom line, and fisherman contribute the least up there. every time someone with a year pass goes in there they lose money. each of those tags has to cost at least 50 cents. I am chiming in to say that complaining will not help, but make all of our lives a li...

Re: encroachment
i hear what you are saying Tom...pretty incredible. My dad and I used to have a 17ft 85 Ranger with an old Johnson on it. We were always cut off and the anglers courtesy went out the window. Now with out 21ft Triton we don't get the same disrespect as much. its pretty amazing at what people will do...

thanks for the tips Marc. was just a little frustrating not getting the whole picture from the lowrance people. I'm sure i'm not the only one caught by this surprise.

Re: Need to test my lowrance 3000 GPS antenna
update the 4000 didn't come with mounting instructions, and i didn't find any online, but im guessing this one mounts directly to the boat, so I just need to remove the old base right? No. it doesn't use the same holes, and it's narrower, so i've got a hardwater ring to take care of and new holes to...

Re: Need to test my lowrance 3000 GPS antenna
I have the same issue with mine? Trying to get another. FYI, just got my new 4000 in the mail (came without mounting base), and it is a smaller diameter than the 3000, so if you are getting the 4000, make sure they send you the base. when i ordered, the tech guy seemed confident the connections wer...

i saw replacement 3000's new on ebay for 80 or so, but got the 4000 from Lowrance at the non warranty replacement price of 115 or so. figured i would get better warranty help in case this one dies too.

Need to test my lowrance 3000 GPS antenna
Help! I think my GPS antenna went bad but i cant find anywhere to test it. i chatted with Ken and Lowrance customer care and they just need me to diagnose the problem before they help. All of my software is current. I have networked 480M's and it's a 3000 series antenna with a red connector. I need ...

Re: To many broken rods
Over the years I have only broke one rod, and it was sticking out of a window i closed. Luckily it was a Cabelas fish eagle II. killer for jerkbaits, but didn't break the bank. Since then I have bought lots of used high end equipment that passed a thorough visual inspection. I fish quite a bit and h...

Re: question on 480M GPS
Thanks Ken.
The software is current, and the 3000series puck is only a few years old, but i think it stopped working when i was finshing in the rain. Maybe that did it. how do i check if the puck is bad?
thanks,
Joey

question on 480M GPS
Last week my 480m stopped working properly. My unit stopped getting a signal from the puck or something. A question mark showed up over the boat icon in the center of the screen. i looked at the connections i could get to and they all looked fine. I have two 480's networked together and both screens...

Re: Protecting our Resources at DVL
Any easy way to cut down on dead/mortally injured fish is to cut the limit down from 5 fish. That may seem drastic to some, but it makes sense if the problem persists, especially for summer and during spawning. This brings me to a little rant on the overall poor treatment of our resources. For examp...

Re: Protecting our Resources at DVL
Effectively immediately, all anglers weighing in dead fish in my tournaments will be subject to a nasty game of "butts up." The team in question will kneel down in front of the trailer and every team will get to throw a tennis ball from 25 feet. Whoever can wedge the ball between the buns...

Re: pouring worms & tieing jigs
Check on youtube, they have some good videos on the basics of jig tying. You will figure out what works best for you after a little trial and error. Make sure to use quality components and tie with braid, or kevlar thread if you need a lot of wraps. I started tying my own a couple years ago and will...

Re: Please get rid of the flashing!!!!!
This site provides a good service, but its design/layout needs some help. I study user interface design and am willing to throw my two cents in on a better design/layout. For one of my classes we used the previous layout as an in class example of a poorly designed website(sorry, it was too easy of a...

Re: US Open Cheater?
bass tourneys kill too many fish in the first place. i wonder how many bigger females this guy has killed over the years, let alone how much LEAD he dumped in the water, affecting our drinking water and the wildlife that ate his dead fish that survived the scales.

i say ban all tournaments at pyramid and return the beatiful place to the quiet winter lake it once was. Now cheaters and too many drunk jet skiers run the place.

Re: Unwritten rules of Bass Fishing
I live in ventura and drink the tap water. Then i drive up to the lake and put it back:) I'm more worried about LEAD. you should be too. NO NO's: pulling up and fishing in front of someone that's working their way up the bank. give them 100 yards or so. driving in circles graphing a spot while someo...
