My brother wrote for his local newspaper in southern Minnesota. This story of his might feel close to home... As the saying goes, "A bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work" and I'm sure that most of us cling to that thought like a woodtick to a deer but there are days when...

They (marmonts) are in Yellowstone and Glacier too. They darn near eat outa your hand. But I was afraid I might not get the hand back. But they are a land rodent and not in the same family as beaver, otter etc.

Im pretty sure that the white one was a weasel. They had a black tip at their tail The white weasel and brown weasel is the same animal. The weasel's name is changed to Ermine in winter (accurately or not by lay people) in the northern regions where it sheds its brown coat and becomes white to camo...

I had a night heron pick up my senko b4 i could react. It went partway down his throat. Instead of jerking him out of water i applied steady pressure and it slide out of his throat unharmed. It didn't even come out of the plastic. Had a near miss with an osprey and a wake bait 2 months ago.

I'm wondering how disasterous the impact of Pike would be! In the midwest and Canada there are good trout and pike fisheries existing well together, Pike co-habit the same waters as Bass, Crappie, Blue Gill and trout. Personally I think the danger is overblown, but I've got an open mind if someone c...

If I'm not mistaken, it's a Sacramento Pike or i.e. squaw (sp?) fish. The real pike, like those in Davis, have nasty teeth. Chris, Nope, it's a Northern Pike. Take it from a former Minnesotan. Went out tonight with the guy that works for me. He's not an experience fisherman. He got a bite and jerked it out of the fiushes mouth. The next thing I know he's jerked it across my rods and theres quite an entanglement. His lure sailed out 20 feet into my water. As we're untangling his rod nearly...
Re: I propose a new hunting license...
In Indian valley poaching is rampant. On my infrequent trips, I find setlines up there every time with the owners about 1/4 mile off. We pull up and drag em out in front of them, tangle them all up, put the string in a garbage sack and steal their hooks and sinkers. They never say a word.
