The worser side
 is that they'll probably drive the local shops out. I live in So.Cal., I do buy from BPS and Cabela's, but I mostly buy local. 8.25% is a small price to pay to me if it means my local guy is there when I need him, either for repairs, baits, or info. And I buy from Tackle Wharehouse, which char...

Tax poor..
I pay the tax on the boat in my driveway, my tags, my passes, .....on and on. But I'm lucky right now, I can still afford it. In ten years it may be another story. I think a major part of the problem is the fact that the Federal Govt. takes much more in taxes out of our state than it returns. Many s...

I know you are very successful fishing and all, but not everyone is as unorthodox as you (Good lick). Personally, a kiss is as far as I'll go with a bass, but, then again, I've never been as accomplished as you, so maybe I should try it. It seems to be working for your friend, Dino.

If John Barron's post is accurate, and I'm sure it is, then fishing in general, and bass fishing specifically, is doing great. I realize that, for people who want to make a career out of fishing, any national growth and exposure increases the chances for making it for more people. The way I read the...

We caught fish in front of the tules on the east side, along the rip rap at the dam end, all along the swim beach ar...

Pro sports is just an entertainment business, a filler between commercials, and the players are all self-centered jerks. Overpaid, under achieving, only play half a game, or the fourth quarter. I grew up with, "90 seconds to go, Lakers down by three, West steals the inbound pass, passes to Bayl...

Brian,
Looks like the bite was BRUTAL! A lot of good sticks, a lot of light sacks. I guess the real Casitas is back. That high, dirty water Casitas was just a temp. Those fish must have left down the steelhead ladders.

 Our radio stations down here in So.Cal. are reminding us that the drought isn't really over, and that we should conserve water. I know it's true. And everytime I talk to my sister in Richmond, and she tells me it's raining, I get jealous. Meantime, it is so great to have lake full of water! Mark

Re: ? about Bassmasters Pay out
Professional fishing is just what it says. It is a business. And those who are most successful have found a way to combine the skills of fishing with the skills of being a business person. Most of the rest of us (I am speaking for me) are either fishing to keep in some kind of competition doing what...

Re: ? about Bassmasters Pay out
Cooch is right. The old saying of, "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it" really applies here, I think. Everyone who has been pushing for bass fishing to become a national sport now sees that it has become, first and foremost, entertainment, like the other pro and college sp...

X98 help
I have a Lowrance X98 on my bow. Sometimes, when I'm fishing, with the console unit off, the 98 will lose the bottom digitally, and scroll through a range of depths until it finds it again. Tom, I think most of us (guilty) have a tendency to
shoot from the hip when something like this comes up, without really thinking it through first. Unfortunately, once we speak up, we feel compelled to defend our statements. So it grows, like a vicious circle. I don't think most people are upset about this, I just think they haven't found a graceful ...

If the connections are fried, it may just have been bad connections that overheated. Buy some wire nuts or crimp connectors of the same size, cut off the bad connections, and redo them. If it was just a bad connection, this will do it. If it's more than that, you'll be able to tell because the conne...

Either they agree with what's going on, or they don't have the 'nads to try to do anything about it. I work for rich peo...
