Re: Outboard hydrofoils?
I had the same problem on a 93 492 Ranger with a 225 Yamaha. I was running a 25 pitch 3-blade. I added a 6" jack plate and did not see much improvement. HOWEVER, when I went to a 23 pitch 4-blade it was like I had put a new motor on. If you have a prop shop near by, they will alow you to try di...

I'm with JT, we've stayed there many times, however, it's now under new managment and it's gone very down hill. If you push for service you'll get it, but they didn't even empty the waste baskets without being asked to. Also, the price has gone up. I'd look at Ferndale. I've heard it's ok.

There are many factors in which you're describing happens. One is low brake fluid. Another is the spring on the surge brake shaft has gotten weak. Sounds like a bad transducer or an air bubble under the mounting. Take the unit itself and have it checked first. If it's ok then it's the ducer. Mine would do this on occasion and I would turn it off for a minute then back on and it was ok.

I would call Loweance and they can tell you what to do next. It sounds like the LCD is bad. If that unit takes a card, you can download your waypoints onto it before sending it in. then upload it to the new unit.

Head for Swell-Mart and get a 5½ ft Med action rod and a Zebco closed face spinning real. Put some decent 10# line on and go fishing. He'll be able to handle this, and use it for many years to come. Shouldn't cost much more than $ 20-30 for everything.

Hey Jax, Use a Uni-knot to Uni-knot with 4 turns each way. This will be suficiant to hold yet not cause a big lump in the spool. Be sure to wet the mono or backing real good before pulling tight. The same will work if you add a leader to the braid. It will pass thru the guides smoothly.

Daren, Your post dos not relate. The braking on an axel doesn't affect the bearings. It sounds like just a coincendense that you had this happen. What probably happened is your inner bearing seal went out either from low amount of grease, age, and you lost grease when it went out, thus the bearings ...

Super glue and line do not mix. Always put the glue on the hook at the bend or on the shank only, not on the eye. It weakens the line and makes it very brittle. Try not running the hook back into the tube at the back, but after going thru the nose, lay it along side, run it thru about 1/8" of the side of the tube and skin hook the point on top. This way you don't have all that tube to interfear with the hook on the hook set, but remains weedless
