ICAST 2017 Largest, Plans for 2018 Announced
ICAST 2017 hosted the largest gathering of the domestic and international sportfishing trade Orange County Convention Center – – From exhibitors to buyers to media, representatives from the domestic and international recreational fishing and boating community converged on the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, Fla., July 11-14, for the 60th International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades, better known as ICAST. Produced by the American Sportfishing Association "Inherently, this show is about showcasing the gear, apparel and accessories that help to make a day on the water both exciting and rewarding. And we're planning on doing things even bigger and better in 2018 when the show returns to Orlando from July 10-13."

76 Million Acres Offered in Gulf of Mexico Region-Wide Oil and Gas Lease Sale
U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke today announced that the Department would offer 75.9 million acres offshore Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida for oil and gas exploration and development. The region-wide lease sale scheduled for August 16, 2017 would include all available unleased areas in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico and provide a reduced royalty rate for shallow water leases to encourage exploration and production under current market conditions.

New Law Took Effect July 1 Any Maryland veteran who has received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained defending our nation now qualifies for a 50 percent discount on Maryland hunting and fishing licenses. The new discounted rate went into effect July 1, 2017.

BRP, a world leader in powersports, announced today Team Evinrude had strong showings at this past weekend’s Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) and National Walleye Tour (NWT) events. In the final FLW regular season event on the Potomac River, held in Marbury, Maryland, June 15-18, 2017, Bryan Thrift claimed the Angler of the Year (AOY) title, with Andy Morgan in second and Anthony Gagliardi in third place in the standings.
