Trump Administration Delivers for Saltwater Recreational Anglers
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced the 2017 Regional Fishery Management Council (RFMC) appointments and has shown that recreational fishing and boating are important to the Trump Administration. The appointments of Steve Heins of New York to the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council; Chester Brewer of Florida to the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council; and Phil Dyskow of Florida, Dr. Bob Shipp of Alabama, and Dr. Greg Stunz of Texas to the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council are a solid affirmation that the Administration is taking federal fisheries management and conservation in the right direction.

Student Anglers Earn Shimano "Varsity Program" Scholarships
All with future goals to have careers in fisheries and wildlife management fields, Shimano - in conjunction with B.A.S.S. Conservation, today named the winners of its 2017 Shimano Varsity Program scholarships. The student anglers earning the college funds include Nicolas Boyett and Chase Ditchkoff from Georgia, Patrick Durand from New Jersey, and Logan Parks from Alabama. Each student is being awarded a $3,000 scholarship to pursue college degrees within biology, fisheries, wildlife or natural resource fields.

Ranger Anglers Sweep FLW Angler of the Year Awards
Ranger Boats Pro Bryan Thrift claimed FLW Tour Angler of the Year for the second time after a remarkable season that found the angler in the top-10 four times. The honor of Angler of the Year goes to the most consistent angler on tour and awards a $100,000 prize. Ranger angler Gary Haraguchi rounded out the Ranger sweep by winning the FLW Co-Angler of the Year award. The co-angler was awarded a brand new Ranger Z518C with a 200-horsepower Evinrude outboard.

EVINRUDE ANGLERS’ CONSISTENCY PAYS OFF AT 2017 AT FLW AND NWT EVENTS
BRP, a world leader in powersports, announced today Team Evinrude had strong showings at this past weekend’s Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) and National Walleye Tour (NWT) events. In the final FLW regular season event on the Potomac River, held in Marbury, Maryland, June 15-18, 2017, Bryan Thrift claimed the Angler of the Year (AOY) title, with Andy Morgan in second and Anthony Gagliardi in third place in the standings. In addition, Mark Courts won the NWT event, held on the Mississippi River.

High School All-American Anglers Compete With Pros On Trophy Bass Lake In Texas
When Reese Jones of Rogers, Ark., received notice that he had been selected as one of 12 members of the 2017 Bassmaster High School All-American Fishing Team presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods, he was ecstatic.
