Satlwater Anglers Benefit from Landmark Legislation That Advances in U.S. House
The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Natural Resources approved H.R. 200, a bill sponsored by Congressman Don Young (R-Alaska) that amends the 1976 Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act to provide flexibility for fishery managers and stability for fishermen. A coalition of organizations representing the saltwater recreational fishing and boating community endorsed H.R. 200 and highlighted the importance of incorporating saltwater recreational fishing management provisions into the nation’s primary law governing federal fisheries management.

Anglers urged to keep lake trout at Flaming Gorge Reservoir
Currently, the popular reservoir in northeastern Utah—known for producing some of the largest lake trout in the country—has too many small lake trout in it. The abundant small lake trout are competing with kokanee salmon and rainbow trout for food. Because there isn't enough food to go around, the rate at which the lake trout are growing is in decline. And, the number of kokanee salmon and rainbow trout in the reservoir is declining too.

Lowrance®, a world-leader in fishing electronics since 1957, announced today that Lowrance Pro Dustin Connell claimed the Bassmaster Rookie of the Year by finishing 24th in points overall with 60 pounds, 13 ounces on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Connell’s closest competition, Lowrance Pro Jamie Hartman finished in 48th place with 41 pounds, 7 ounces. That allowed Connell to win the Rookie of the Year race by the thinnest of margins, 765-764 – the fifth time in the last six years a Lowrance angler has received Bassmaster Elite Rookie of the Year honors.
