CDFW Closes Reserve Due to Fire
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has announced the immediate closure of the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve in Riverside County as a result of the Tenaja Incident (fire). Although the fire was largely under control as of Friday, Sept. 13, CDFW staff has closed the reserve to public access in order to perform repairs to critical infrastructure and allow firefighters to completely extinguish parts of the property that may still be smoldering.

Flash flood warning issued for parts of Tuolumne Co. due to ‘potential’ dam failure

According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Division, 1,000 applicants will be selected for the 2017 alligator hunting season which begins Aug. 18 at sunset and ends Oct. 2 at sunrise.

NOAA Warns of Continuing Species Shifts Due to Warming Oceans
Changes impact local fishing communities, resource management Scientists using a high-resolution global climate model and historical observations of species distributions on the Northeast U.S. Shelf have found that commercially important species will continue to shift their distribution as ocean waters warm two to three times faster than the global average through the end of this century. Projected increases in surface to bottom waters of 6.6 to 9 degrees F (3.7 to 5.0 degrees Celsius) from current conditions are expected.
