Target Areas with Ish Monroe
"Look for the first drop off that is just off the spawning flat or that first channel bend that leads to the spawning flat. These are staging areas for the pre and post spawn fish. Just think about where you caught fish on beds and look for the staging area to those beds. That will help you find your post spawners. #TBT

Fishing Hollow-Body Frogs vs Soft Plastic Frogs
When fishing dense mats of vegetation, or in vast expanses of lily pads, you’ll want to use a hollow-bodied frog to properly target the bass hiding underneath these canopies. These baits are nearly impossible to snag and bass will be looking to feed upwards when buried in these mats. Also many of these areas you’ll be fishing will have dense vegetation, so you’ll need a frog that has a large profile as this will displace the matted vegetation as you work it across the top of it.

Frog Fishing: Modifications to Match the Forage
"Fred is a super-duper, awesome color for a frog imitating bait and the frogs are abundant and really active during the summer, especially in the warmer part of the summer, when the Snag Proof Open is," he continued. "I have found that two things make Fred look even more like the Delta frogs." #TBT

Westernbass Magazine, Spring 2016
I am certainly ready for a new season of bassin’ and hope you are too. I’ve been excited to kick off the year with coverage of the International Sports Shows in Sacramento and Scottsdale as well as the Fred Hall show. Stay tuned for upcoming tank seminars on WesternBassTV, if you missed the shows. This year, WesternBass was excited to bring site users video clips from our western anglers at the Bassmaster Classic. I will be watching and cheering them on throughout the year. I would like to congratulate Lowrance pro Edwin Evers for his outstanding win at Grand Lake for the Classic championship – 29 pounds! Wow! I would to like remind anglers that WesternBass offers many features on the site to make tournament planning easy. Under the Interactive tab, we have the Tournament Calendar and Special Events with Digital Guides for all of the Wild West Bass Trail events. Under the Delta tab, you will find moon phases, weather, water temps and tide charts to help plan a fun and productive day on the tidal water. Lastly, I want to thank all of you for your support of the site and the magazine. It is because of you and our sponsors that WesternBass is the place where fishermen talk. Wayne

Ish’s Durante-Nose Popper
Monroe is a perfectionist when it comes to tweaking his signature series baits. Take for example Ish’s Phat Frog, a hollow body frog design modified like no other hollow body frog on the market. “The first thing anglers will visually notice is a flatten profile. Holding my Phat Frog reveals a heavier body with legs that hang straight back, making for an extremely effective frog walking-hopping action.” #TBT

Frog Fish How-To: Skipping a Frog
The hollow bodied frog is well known to shine when fished across matted, dense vegetation, but this extremely snag resistant lure is a great choice when you need to put your lure in places that are quite “clingy.”

Cold Weather Froggin' | Tips for the Earliest Frog Fish
Most bass fisherman think of the topwater frog as a summertime or early fall lure, as they associate it with fishing it over thick mats of vegetation, wearing t-shirts and shorts under a nice warm and humid forecast, but the topwater frog just like any lure or technique out there can be applied to fishing scenarios other times of the year as well.
