BoatUS Foundation Awarded $150K to Address Marine Debris Challenges
Boaters know the dangers that marine debris can pose, both to their own vessel and the environment. Long known for its successful national fishing line recycling program, the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water will be tackling the challenging problem of waterborne junk in three projects this spring that will help remove large debris, a sunken fishing boat, and will explore the issue of boats running afoul of commercial fishing gear.

Bass will use these structural elements as staging areas on their journey. The great thing to remember about these kind of spots is that they have a tendency to replenish themselves over time as new groups of fish head for the bank. Keep in mind that once the fish have finished their spawning duties, they will once again use these locations as they migrate back to deeper water during the post spawn.

I am certainly ready for a new season of bassin’ and hope you are too. I’ve been excited to kick off the year with coverage of the International Sports Shows in Sacramento and Scottsdale as well as the Fred Hall show. Fishing Clear Lake this Week | Updates from the Lake
As of this morning the lake is at 7.53 Rumsey, with “full pool” being 7.56 we are there, and the lake will most likely see 8.0 Rumsey by weeks end. Water temps are in the low to mid 50’s. So, yes, as most have heard, Clear Lake has been at its finest since the first week in February. No, the rumors of 40 lb bags were not rumors. Trust me, I’ve seen more than one guide service put the hurt on em’ to that tune.

Stockton, CA – At a closed session board meeting this morning, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California authorized the purchase of four islands in the San Francisco Bay-Delta for an undisclosed sum. The deal is highly controversial in Northern California as it would put Southern California’s most powerful water agency in control of a group of Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta islands that can serve as water storage areas or entry points for the proposed $15 billion Delta Tunnels projects.
