Oroville Spillway Update September 26, 2017
Roller-compacted concrete (RCC) is hauled from the on-site RCC batch plant and placed in the Lake Oroville spillway’s middle chute, steel plates are installed at contraction joints, and RCC density testing is conducted to ensure quality. RCC work continues through the night, along with structural concrete work on the upper chute.

Oroville Dam spillway reconstruction expected to end before rainy season
The Department of Water Resources said it's on track to a have a fully functional primary spillway by its self-imposed Nov. 1 – just before the rainy season begins. The rebuilt spillway will be capable of handling water releases of 100,000 cubic feet per second. Additionally, crews working on the emergency spillway are focused on the reconstruction of a cut-off wall. That is scheduled to be finished by January.

Feather River Salmon Spawning Restoration Project
In anticipation of salmon spawning season this fall, we placed 5,000 cubic yards of gravel in key salmon spawning areas of the Feather River in Oroville near the Feather River Fish Hatchery. Last winter’s high river flows washed much of the gravel in the area downstream. Adult salmon need clean spawning gravel to dig their nests, called “redds,” where they lay their eggs. This project improves and increases the spawning habitat available to the salmon, in an effort to boost salmon population.

Oroville Spillway Update August 30, 2017
Oroville Spillway construction is progressing at a fast pace, as large volumes of concrete are placed in multiple areas of the flood control spillway throughout the day. The large void in the central area of the chute is being filled with roller-compacted concrete, while leveling concrete is poured in the upper chute.

Oroville Spillway Update August 22, 2017 | CDWR
Steel beams are installed for the upper spillway walls. Roller-compacted concrete (RCC) continues going in on the middle spillway. Crews prepare the area between the upper and lower chute for RCC by filling the crevasses with dental concrete. Rebar mats are set for structural concrete on the lower spillway.

Oroville Spillway August 10, 2017
Progress is being made at the Lake Oroville Spillways around the clock. Crews continue to work day and night to clean and prepare the remaining rock, while rebar and stay-forms are placed where rock has already been prepared. Structural concrete is being poured in many sections of the upper and lower chute, and roller compacted concrete continues to be placed at night when temperatures are cooler.
