Wacky rigged stick baits and their application to Walleye?
I thought that you guys in the Northwest may have some experience with this. I am going to Canada this summer for Walleye (and Pike) and I was thinking, why would that wacky style rig on a 5" "stick bait" (sinking worm) not work for walleye? Has anyone tried that for Walleye? I may gi...

Spotted Bass on Nacimiento - a little help please
Ok, now I am a little ashamed to say that I feel I am basically a nimrod on the fine points of bass fishing. Not knowing any better I fish live worms off submerged islands or partially submerged islands, a troll crabkbaits (with low success, not zero but low). What is the best technique this time of...

Re: So what are "infected" lakes doing?
Dixon and all lakes fed by the Colorado River Aquaduct got them by transmission of infected Colorado River Water.
Watch for San Diego County residents with mussels in their mouth (from the water).

So what are "infected" lakes doing?
I was wondering, what are the proceedures at lakes confirmed to have the mussels? I can only guess, one can just drive off with a bilge full of water, or live wells, or whatever. tell me I am wrong, but something tells me I am not,,,, Seems that those lakes should be requireing full on decontaminati...

Re: Just got word that Casitas is going to be opening
What I feel we have here is progress. Progress the other way. Seems like is was not too long ago, the house of cards were prepared to collapse. Casitas was the first big one to go, and everyone thought Cachuma was next and then a landslide. Cachuma reversed this trend and now Casitas is re-opening e...

I saw that algae bloom yesterday, wow that is as wild of an algae bloom as I recall.
I believe it is related to teh Zaca Fire, alot of runoff this winter becasue of the fire and I am sure an extra load of nutrients came in.

Re: WARNING to all SoCal boaters coming to fish Clear Lake
So the lake stays open but the bitching continues? We need to wake up and look around.
this is a good thing, be happy, consider the alternative,,,

Re: Brian You are screwed hahahaha
Ok, I think there is a point where we have to get serious here. I am new to this Board, but I am not new to Cachuma and learning fast about the Quagga issue. You cannot sit here on a message Board and call this serious issue a joke. While the debate over how real is the spread of this pest by boat g...

Re: Great News - Cachuma to remain open!
I would be sure to have the boat spotless at the CF numbers. I would trust the operator would use care going over that area. The key here is the hot water, it kills the Veligers (larva) if they are there. The key is not to be point blank with a high pressure nozzle, but to cover with hot water. If y...

Re: Great News - Cachuma to remain open!
If all carries forward as expected, yes, the Lake should be open. You group should be well versed on the Inspection and Treatment protocols. If your members are from San Diego or Riverside Counties, they will not be allowed to launch until they meet a 14 day Quarantine, or if the boat is 24 feet or ...

Re: Great News - Cachuma to remain open!
The plan is to raise the fees for this, but nothing set yet. I would expect to see something in place soon.
Nothing is decided, but it could be either an increase to the existing boat fee, or perhaps a surcharge for the inspection / wash portion.

Re: Great News - Cachuma to remain open!
I think that the Cachuma protocols made steps that were very conservative in that area for sure. Until we have more science on the matter, this was the only answer to the pressure to close totally. Cachuma will offer to "tag" a boat after the 14 days so that repreat visits (as long as the ...

Cachuma launching protocol*NM*
Thought I would post this as a new thread cause the other thread is longer. Here is the link to launching at Cachuma. http://www.countyofsb.org/ceo/pdf/press/08_03_25quagga.pdf Basically, inspections for Clean and Dry, and they mean it, and pressure wash. Residents of Counties with infected waters o...

Re: Great News - Cachuma to remain open!
Guys - Here are the rules basically http://www.countyofsb.org/ceo/pdf/press/08_03_25quagga.pdf Basically, the rule is strict 'Clean and Dry' as well as a 140 degree wash. Alternates are quaranteen on site for up to 14 days. The deal with the people near "affect waters" include all boats wh...

Note, County Board of Supervisors will have a Public Meeting in march. Stay tuned there are alternatives to closing the lake. WE need to be responsible here too!
