Re: Bug Splatter
Guys, I've found that if I spray a little WD40 on a rag and wipe the front of the boat to get a lite film of WD40 on it and completely cover the engine with a film, it will clean up much easier. Been doing it for years at Clear Lake and Mead. Hope it helps in the future.

Re: Replace axle or spidle??
Jeff, if the only damage is small ridges, then a speedy sleeve would be the best and cheapest fix. If you are mechanically inclined you can make the repairs yourself. If not, any good trailer shop can do it. Before I retired, we installed many each year on pleasure boaters trailers. Not so many bass...

Re: Replace axle or spidle??
Jeff, It will depend upon what type of axle you have, if it is a conventional axle you can pick up a complete new axle for around 150.00 or you may be able to get by with just a speedy sleeve and new seals and bearings. Check with any trailer shop and they should be able to help you. Good luck, Don

I would also slow roll a black colorado blade spinnerbait. ie., Strikeking 38 special. Also, put a black grub on for a trailer. A black power worm worked along the rocky banks by the dam have been very effective for me.

Re: gel coat question
If the part in question is metal flake, be extremely careful when doing any sanding. If the sandpaper hits the flake, it will turn it silver looking regardless of the flake color. If your problem area is a solid color, you should be able to wet sand and apply wax to make the area look better, but it...

Re: ""ABA MOTHERLODE".. 36 TEAMS.....
I can guarantee that it wasn't the same fish. I lip landed the 11.31 and netted the 11.95, they were several miles apart. One was caught in 35-40 feet of water and the other in less than 6 feet. The first fish had a much smaller head and mouth than the 11.95, John is a good fisherman, but not good e...

Re: Nor-Cal Bass Team events
I and my team partner plan on being there if the roads and wind permit. Like you said no one should have any advantage after this weeks storms. For sure a good bunch of people run this circuit, my hat is off to Diane and the rest of the Nor-cal crew.

Re: Insurance? Who should I get quotes from?
I too got tired of my old insurance company raising rates all the time. I tried 2 or 3 of the above mentioned companies and then last year asked the dealer where I purchased my new boat from, what companies they had had favorable dealings with and he told me that Progressive was excellent to deal wi...

Re: New ideas for quagga mussel management
A while back at a seminar, I asked Skeet what they (the real professionals) were doing about the quagga and he really didn't know what I was talking about. Those guys travel from state to state all the time and he did not know. You would think that BASS would have at least brought the "stars&qu...
Re: Best Rod
You are going to be hard pressed to find any rod more sensitive at feeeeeling the bite than a GLX 853. You can feel any pickup even with a big wind bow in the line. They are pricey, but extremely good for a senko.

Re: Fish with a pro contest I need your help guys
This is a great idea, not nearly enough of the bass guys actually wear their vests when practicing, a lot of us only wear them when in an actual tournament. If this helps get more people to wear them, what a slick way to increase awareness.

Re: Spoon question??
I usually spoon with a 7'2" medium action rod, 12lb test line and a 3/4 oz hopkins. Use a good ballbearing swivel if you choose, the main thing to prevent fouling the line and spoon is to maintain contact with the spoon as it drops. This will also help detect subtle/soft bites on the fall. Good...

If you have back problems at the end of a long day on the water, you probably don't have a recessed pedal. One of the best ways to ease back pain.

Re: Don Pedro Help
I'm not sure anyone can help you right now. This lake is just plain tough. I've made a few trips there latlely and I have no advice, the fish just flat aren't doing what they normally do. That said, try throwing a jig in creek channels and/or drop-shotting in 20-40 feet of water. It is going to be a...

Hey old friend, don't let these dildos get you down, I'm sure that I don't know the whole story as I have been pretty much out of fishing all spring and summer. (Wife was quite ill, brain surgery and lung surgery) But now I'm slowly getting back into it. Heaven forbid that any of you that have bad m...
