Re: What's the strangest thing you've seen while on the wate
I wouldn't say this is the funniest, but it was something I haven't forgotten in nearly 30 years. One time my parents took us to visit my grandparents in northeastern Arkansas. I liked to bass fish as a kid so my dad decides to take me to this eery looking lake. I think it was called Big Lake or som...

Re: What's My Champ Worth
But I don't want a new boat :D The last one was the worst financial decision I ever made, one I am still trying to catch up with, so no new boat. I don't even fish anymore anyways now that I am in shooting sports. I'll end up dumping it cheap, and still be paying on that loan for the next five or mo...

That sound reasonable, and about what I expected. Last servicing was over the winter, but it has only seen the water twice since last winter. Thanks for your tips. I'll have to clean it up and flood the avenues hoping for some interest.

What's My Champ Worth
I did some researching online and the general concensus was my 1997 186 Champion DCX Elite with 150 Merc EFI had a low appraisal of 12K to a high of 15K. Anyone else had and sold a similar Champ recently? Boat is in excellent condition because it doesn't get used

Re: What about exhaust?
Some people do a cat-back buy solely for the sound. Others do it to believe they are improving power. The reality is that SOME cat back systems for TDs do improve performance, while some others actually don't increase power at all, yet claim to. Where you'll benifit the most is in towing and around ...

Re: Dodge Diesel modifications......
Based off of flow information I have been told, from those who have done extensive filter flow and restriction dyno testing, the new air filter in the Ram TDs flows really good, as good or nearly as good as aftermarket replacement filters. I don't see you getting a lot of bonus power from just an ai...

Re: Dodge Diesel modifications......
Here is the link to an article I just did last week for our DodgeTruckWorld.com web magazine and our print version. The package we installed on this Cummins TD Ram consisted of a K&N AirCharger, Edge Juice module and a Flowmaster cat back exhaust. After extensive dyno runs both before and after ...

On a related topic, just last night a friend of mine who lives up by Commanche said he stopped by the lake to let his dog out to run around a bit while he made a few phone calls. When the dog came back it had fishing line hanging out of his mouth. He instinctively knew what happened and in a control...

Re: Who else?
DL, take a tape measure from the outer u-bolt which holds the axle to the leaf springs to the back side of the hub. Then measure the other side. There is a chance you could have curb shotted the trailer and thus shifted the axle over if the u-bolts weren't tight. Regardless the axle should be center...

Re: Speaking of scams....
Based on the story I was told, when Lake Matthews was being developed and filled, the MWD (and I think Edison) gave Riverside Co the option to signing contracts to develop a marina, launch ramps and campgrounds, etc. I was told that Riv. Co. told them, no thanks, we have Lake Perris. I am not sure i...

Re: Does anyone think the Lake Perris drawdown was a scam?
They have done the same thing to several lakes in the state. Several years ago there was a statewide mandate to inspect all reservoir dams. Many were determined to have a problem. Could be politics, could be just the pains of the modernizing process. I heard "rumor" there is a plan to dred...

Stop sounding like a whiner. Just because our beloved Kings sucked major hinney in the end, doesn't mean someone is jumpin ship if they would like the Cup to reside in SOCAL. You and I can only wish our Kings could play with half the talent the Ducks have been demonstrating lately. Good hockey is go...

Re: GET THE BROOM OUT...
Ducks vs. Sharks= Ducks in five. Ducks vs. Oilers= Ducks in seven. The ducks are the smoothest transitional team going right now. If they can sustain momentum during the rest period, the badly beaten and tired team to come out of the EDM/SJS series will falter. I'm not a Ducks fan, but this is one h...

Dang, I have three that I always seem to tell, or that always stick in my mind. If I have to pick one, here is my favorite. It was late May, early June of about 1998 I think. I was at work and remembered there was a freak summer rain front coming down. I decided to run home and get the boat and head...

Pete, I did Perris about a week and a half ago. The water looked like tea pumped from a bilge. Nasty. Best I could see was about two feet at the Dam with dead flat water and sun. Horrible conditions. I hadn't been there in a while so I don't know how long it has been that way. It was so dingy I don'...

I still use the same bait I have for 10 years. A clear sparkle gitzit with a painted white weight pegged texas rig. The best bait for bed fish is the one you have most confidence in. If you don't have confidence with it, you won't fish it long enough for it to work. For the big ones I start with the...

Cart before the horse
Before thinking about where the good spots will be, has there been any investigation as to how the lake officials will handle launching, or if they will even allow it during this "down time"? When they dropped it 12 feet a few years ago to extend some launch ramps, that is only half the di...
