    FLW Tournaments Sanctioned in South Africa

    MINNEAPOLIS – Fishing League Worldwide (FLW), the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, announced an exclusive licensing agreement with WJ Lindeque CC, of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, to begin sanctioning FLW bass-fishing tournaments in South Africa. The agreement was signed by FLW President of Operations Kathy Fennel and Hannes Lindeque, a managing member of WJ Lindeque CC.

    FLW and Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board announced Saturday that Columbia, South Carolina, would once again be hosting the Forrest Wood Cup presented by Walmart, the world championship of bass fishing, Aug. 11-13, 2017, on Lake Murray.

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Forrest Wood Cup presented by Walmart, the world championship of professional bass fishing, will visit Wheeler Lake and the Huntsville, Alabama, area August 4-7 to crown bass fishing’s top angler of 2016. Hosted by the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the tournament will feature 50 of the world’s best bass-fishing professionals casting for the sport’s biggest award – $300,000 cash.

(May 21, 2016) – Charley Almassey of Oakley, California, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 15 pounds, 1 ounce Saturday to win the Costa FLW Series Western Division event on the California Delta presented by Power-Pole with a three-day total of 15 bass weighing 60 pounds, 1 ounce. For his win, Almassey earned $32,880.

    The key for me in this tournament was fishing shallow spawning banks with sparse tules in front on shallow wood with good clean grass. When the tide was high the fish wood boil and follow the bait out but when the tide would fall and the shallow grass was exposed then they would start biting aggressively. #TBT to 2015 Delta FLW
