The American Sportfishing Association's (ASA) board of directors is pleased to announce that Glenn Hughes, ASA's Vice President for Industry Relations, has been hired to take on the role of President beginning April 1, 2018. The announcement was made during the board of directors meeting which convened today at the 2017 Sportfishing Summit, the association's annual business meeting, being held October 10-13, at the Opal Sands Resort in Clearwater Beach, Fla.

Sportfishing Industry Praises Committee Passage of HELP for Wildlife Act
The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) today expressed support for the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works’ (EPW) passage of S. 1514, the Hunting Heritage and Environmental Legacy Preservation Act, or HELP for Wildlife Act. The bipartisan bill, which includes a range of provisions designed to improve the management of fish, wildlife, habitat, and outdoor recreation, passed by a 14-7 margin.

ICAST 2017 hosted the largest gathering of the domestic and international sportfishing trade Orange County Convention Center – – From exhibitors to buyers to media, representatives from the domestic and international recreational fishing and boating community converged on the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, Fla., July 11-14, for the 60th International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades, better known as ICAST. Produced by the American Sportfishing Association "Inherently, this show is about showcasing the gear, apparel and accessories that help to make a day on the water both exciting and rewarding. And we're planning on doing things even bigger and better in 2018 when the show returns to Orlando from July 10-13."

American Sportfishing Association Elects Board of Directors Members for 2017
Alexandria, VA – June 28, 2017 – Four members of the American Sportfishing Association(ASA) were elected to fill two regional seats and two At-Large seats on the board of directors. Their terms begin October 1, 2017, and they will serve three-year terms. Last October, the membership voted to amend the by-laws and now ASA’s board members may serve two, three-year consecutive terms instead of three, two-year terms.
