MD Chesapeake Bay Striped Bass Season Opens Soon
he spring season for the state fish, striped bass, kicks off on April 16 in Maryland's portion of the Chesapeake Bay. Spring recreational fishing opportunities for striped bass, locally known as rockfish, will run from April 16 through May 15, with a catch limit of one fish per person, per day, 35 inches or larger.

Stripers finally showing in solid numbers on both sides of Disco Bay. Some nice black bass coming out of Discovery Bay this week. Bigger fish have been falling for a 8" Savage Gear 3D GLIDE SWIMMER in the Hitch color. Dropshotting will put more fish in the boat but the size is just not there.

Life Returns to Utah's Red Fleet Reservoir
Those at the boat ramp at Red Fleet Reservoir were all smiles when the first fish hatchery truck drove down the ramp on Nov. 16. The truck released more than 3,800 Colorado River cutthroat trout into the reclaimed waters. The truck returned a few hours later with its second load of fish, another 5,000 cutthroat trout from the Whiterocks State Fish Hatchery.

Striper anglers are now starting to pick up fish along the lower reaches of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers. Lure tossers and bait anglers are both finding lots of small stripers with an occasional ten-pounder. Some of the more dedicated anglers have picked up some fish in the twenty-pound class already this year.

Maryland Striped Bass Juvenile Index on Chesapeake is Eighth Highest on Record
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced today that the 2015 striped bass juvenile index is the eighth highest on record. The survey, a measure of spawning success, found an average of 24.2 juvenile fish per sample, approximately double the long-term average of 11.9.

Federal bill will eradicate striped bass, other non-native fish in Bay-Delta
Federal bill S. 1894, introduced by Senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, would mandate the eradication of all non-native fish, including striped bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish and other species, from the Bay-Delta Estuary, while failing to deal with the fundamental problems that have been so destructive to the estuary and our native fishes.

OUTDOOR WRITERS OF OHIO STATE RECORD FISH COMMITTEE New Ohio State Record Hybrid Striped Bass Certified A new Ohio record Hybrid Striped Bass (a cross between a white bass and a striped bass) has been certified by the Outdoor Writers of Ohio State Record Fish Committee. The new state record hybrid striper, weighing 18.32 pounds, was caught by Richard A. Knisely of Washington Court House, Ohio in a feeder creek to Deer Creek Lake in Fayette County.

Record Striper Caught
Lawrence Dillman of Rockaway Beach became the most recent record-breaking angler in Missouri when he hooked a giant striped bass on Bull Shoals Lake using a rod and reel. The new "pole and line" record striped bass caught by Dillman on May 21 weighed 65 pounds, 2 ounces with a length of 49 ¾ inches and a girth of 36 inches. Dillman used 20-pound test line and a chub minnow to catch the behemoth.
