Re: Best cellphone carriers on Norcal lakes?
Guys, appreciate the feedback. I guess I'll stick with Verizon. Only reason to switch is if they drag their heels on some of the bigger Android phones with 4" screens that were just announced (those things are beautiful). Caudog, I was a telecom guy too for several decades up until I sold my la...

Best cellphone carriers on Norcal lakes?
I'm planning to get a new smartphone (Android phones have nice mapping, real-time weather, and GPS features). I would appreciate knowing which cellphone carriers are good and which ones are poor when it comes to coverage on our area lakes/delta. I use Verizon now and think it's been pretty good cove...

Take a deep breath and read this article: http://deadspin.com/5490210/espncom-helps-launch-false-obama-wants-to-ban-fishing-rumor Summary: the original ESPN article was poorly researched and even more poorly written. Re: Lowrance or Humminbird?
Well put and you're right, this could be resolved by a royalty payment back to Johnson Outdoors. But it could also just as easily turn into a preliminary injunction against Navico where they are prevented from further selling of side imaging units until the case is fully resolved. Anyway, buyer bewa...

Re: Lowrance or Humminbird?
I really doubt Lowrance would be forced to stop selling if found guilty of patent infringement. You are making a big assumption. I wasn't suggesting Lowrance would go out of business. My warning is for anyone who has not yet bought a side-imaging product anyway. I fully expect all the Lowrance-spon...

I'm kinda surprised this has not been mentioned yet but...if you want the side imaging feature, you should be aware that the makers of Humminbird (Johnson Outdoors) filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the makers of Lowrance (Navico) on January 27 ( http://www.humminbird.com/company/media/pre...

I was at Berryessa yesterday. Water in the entire lake was stained to very stained depending on where you were. Lots of water has flowed into that lake during the last storm: level is up almost 6 feet.

Robert F, it's nice to see sound thinking in a WB post. Especially in today's tight economy shopping for best price for non-essentials (sports, hobbies) is smart. Hmm, just had to log in for this one. Would this dynamic duo allow a boat to follow them around and witness their amazing talents for all the remaining FPT events? If "no", I'd be curious why?

Why so few tackle discounts locally and online?
I've been bass fishing for just under 2 years and have bought my fair share of tackle at local and online stores. I'm wondering why it's been so tough to find a true discount seller of tackle. Even vendors known as "discount sellers" are selling most of their stuff at list price, at least ...

After being held at 371 ft. for awhile it looks like Folsom may finally be filling up again. I just switched from using Shimano Citica 200 reels to the new Curado 200-E7 series and can now cast my light finese rigs like 1/8 oz dartheads about 20 feet farther. I think technically it would be against the law and considered a distraction. I think such a light could be confused as a distress signal... All good advice so far but not specific enough.
