I vote Choke Canyon and Sam Rayburn. Lake Fork can be good too, but I like the other two lakes better.

Are you running fully trimmed out? What RPMs are you running WOT? You should be able to get high 50s with the 150 Merc stock. I've seen 63 GPS with a 185vs and 175 yamaha stock. I lived in Bay Point for 17 years. It would take you about an hour to drive to Whiskey slough or Tiki. In that time, you would have already launched and been halfway to Mildred had you launched at Orwood or Holland. Orwood has a good ramp and a decent restaurant too.

They are just using a large salmon spoon. It is big down here at Lake Fork. I don't think you can buy the Mark Pack, Lake Fork tackle, spoon he was using online. You can get other similar salmon spoons though from Cabelas.

I don't think you need it unless you plan to beach your boat often. Down here in Texas you need one. Most of the launch ramps don't have docks so you always have to beach the boat. The Hamby's will allow you to even beach the boat on a launch ramp with no damage. It provides plenty of protection. I ...

You only need two batteries. Get a good 12V trolling motor (Minnkota makes the best 12V motors) and run your livewell and electronics on your starting battery. They just started stocking 3:16 and Hudds at Lake Fork Marina this spring. They have had Matt Lures for a little longer though. I have been throwing large mission fish and big hammers at the lakes down here since I moved 2.5 years ago. I think I am still one of the few that uses them regularly.

What I am saying is that the trout in the lakes they stock here haven't made the same impact on the size of the bass, compared to California. I am not sure if that is due to water temp. water depth, or the fact that they don't stock near as many. However, I am not really sure of the specific numbers...

Texas does, in fact, stock trout in a bunch of the lakes. While the numbers of trout stocked probably don't compare to the numbers stocked in CA, the trout don't seem to make a difference in fish size at those lakes.
