Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Water is clearing, but not too cool, as Mr. Hemphill mentioned. Two fish on the LV500 early, then the blacklights came out. Threw jigs w/yamamoto tt trailer from 7-12 p.m. 20 or so fish to 8 lb. 6 oz. Rocks & docks on the West End. Working the jig down from 0-12 ft. on rockpiles, docks, boat ramps. The bite is light, usually on the fall...or just deadsticking.
Had a 40 fish night ( to 6-7) last Sat. using a jig -no rattles or scent. Got a 7-6 last Sun. on the jig, so the big uns are beginning to show.
City: LakeportTips: s-h-a-k-e that jig. Then let it sit. Reach down for your coffee, & you'll get a bite. Blacklights/flourescent lines. Black & blue or brown & orange jigs 3/8-1/2 oz. scent or not, rattle or no...all worked well. I really think my new jig rod made a difference. The graphite handle, which is molded to the blank really makes a difference feeling that light bite. The two guys who were with me agree...
Water is clearing nicely...want to get out for the day rip bite soon... -

Report: Fished 9/16 thru 9/18 with my Brother Benny and 4 year old daughter Brianna and 2 year old son Brandon, we caught about 12 bass to 2.5lbs on 9/16, 24 bass to 3 lbs on 9/17 plus 1 5lb cat fish that hit rubber worm and 2 5bl cat fish that hit real worm, what a fight they are on drop shot rods!!!, decided to sleep in late on 9/18 and take the kids on a bluegill only run, what a blast, we caught and kept 20 bluegill on bobbers, the kids had a blast putting them in the live well and watching them swim around, they were delicious.
City: San JoseTips: 4 inch purple or purple brown worms in any mfg, I caught one of my 3lbers on a K-Mart no name 3 inch purple curley tail grub with blue red flake on dart head, I only had one and the 3lber destroyed it. tried crankin, poppin, jiggin, with no takers so stayed with drop shot and dart head anywhere in the south end of lake in 4-10 ft, walls, toolies, docks & rocks as long as there were bait fish there were bass. Just like the guy who posted just ahead of me, you only got 2-4 fish per spot instead of 10-12 like sept 05. Keep the bluegill so the bass have a good chance next spring and release them bassers. God bless and good luck.

Report: I thought the reports section was for reports. Anyway, I took a nice guy to Clear Lake Tues evening after a very warm day. I though the wind would not be a problem but it was. Blew most of the night. We started in the Oaks arm and I had him throwing the Salt River Draw worm that Bob Higgins showed me. The client stuck the first six bass. I lost a big one and caught a few before dark. None of those were over 2 1/2 lbs. After dark we tried to stay out of the wind in Konocti Bay and did our best. We caught a few in the south side of the bay on 7 and 10 inch Power worms. About 11:30 pm near the mid-bay point I got an average bite but did not have an average response after the hookset! Wow - what a tussle. After three tries, she is in the net - all 9 1/2 lbs of her. Talk about a surprise! I believe she was in about 4 feet of water. The rest of the trip produced a few up to 3 1/4 lbs. We caught a total of 17 bass for a limit of 20 1/4 lbs - obviously much of that weight with one fish! A much slower night than the previous night trip with 31 keeper bass. I am just amazed at the difference a few days (nights) can make and how much the bite can change. The next day I guided 2 nice guys, showing them some spots to look for fall bass. Again, the bite was drastically slower than previous trips as we only landed some 12 bass. Some of the previously good areas didn't even produce a bite. Is that partly because of the huge weekend crowd? Who knows. One of the clients did well with his "secret" color crankbait. He caught 4 or 5 on that alone in shallow rocky areas. I would like to say where but I think he is fishing an upcoming tournament. At least we beat the cold front that was moving in as we left. I noticed that most everyone else had already pulled their boats out. Maybe it was generally tough?
City: Yuba CityTips: It is very hard to give constructive tips at this time of year when conditions are changing so fast. I did notice that many, many small bass are in the shallows - biting anything that you throw. That usually means that the bigger bass have moved off-shore somewhere for some reason. In another month you won't see hide nor hair of those small bass as the bigger ones will begin their pre-winter feed. The worm and crankbait bite seems to be the best thing going in my boat right now. I caught one on a jig. I did not go north of Soda Bay for both trips.

Report: Bank Info
City: RosevilleTips: Unless u r going to stay at konocti resort they have recently change their rules only allowing paying hotel guest to fish on the docks. I suggest clearlake oaks located on the south end of the lake. Directions take 20 north from I-5 about forty five miles or so u will run into water. come into town about a mile or so and make a left at Island Dr. (next to the water plant) there is a boat ramp and dock fish that area all the way to the bridge. there is great access all over for bank fishing. Go to limit out Bait and tackle and he will have the robo worms needed to catch these bass. I prefer 6 inch robo in ox blood, red crawler or salt river crawler all great colors. Ask bob he is the owner he will stir u right he is located on highway 20 in the middle of town on the left hand side coming south to north. I have fish these areas over the years via bank and boat and have caught hundreds of bass. I would say over half have been from the bank. Fish the lure slow jig jig stop 3 secs jig jig stop 3 sec... goodluck.

Report: You might also try Konocti. The docks and the surrounding shores are usually good for some fish. Have not been there in a while but it is something to think about. Plus there are many other things there if the fishing is slow. Isn't it great to share fishing with your kids!

Report: State Park is actually not the greatest for bank fishing. Depending on the water level, you may or may not be able to access decent shore fishing spots around the swimming area. You can fish near the boat launch, but that water is kind of shallow, and there are minimanl bass holding there right now. You can also try the county park area which is off of Park Drive I believe, which is a mile or two before the State Park entrance. There is a point that parrallels the launch ramp which can be somewhat productive right now. I've heard there are some good bank spots in the southern end, but have never personally fished there. Good luck!

Report: Not a report but can someone recommend a place in clear lake for Bass fishing from shore. This will be my first time and I'm taking my son with me who loves bass fishing. I did some research and thinking about going to state park which seems to be the easiest place to get into for first timer like me. Thanks..

Water Temp: 69-75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: My Brother Benny and I fished 6/15 thru 6/18, 6/15 fished from noon till 8:00 PM and my bro is the only one to land 2 fish to 3 lbs, 6/16 fished AM bite and I landed 8 to 3 lbs and bro 4 to 3lbs,
6/17 I landed 5 to 5lbs and bro 2 to 2 lbs, 6/18 I landed 1 to 2.5 lbs and bro 1 1.5 lb. Caught 2 bluegill about 3/4 lb on a drop shot, biggest bluegills I have ever caught, bring the kids and mill worms they are every where we fished.
City: San Jose, CaTips: South end very stained and full of bait fish, could not get a bite in the AM on the south end.
Fished the narrows and a litte south of it and the water was a little clearer and we were able to get some day light fish on drop shot Margareta Mutilator 4 inch right next to weeds or in the weeds 5-12 feet deep, look for wind to push bait into the weeds and there will be a few fish waiting for an easy meal. Caught my 5 lber on a red shad power worm with curly tail on a dart head at 8:00 P.M. on 6/18, it was the only fish I caught on the south end but it was the biggest. I think the night bite will be good on the south end but you better use 7-10 inch curley tail worms in dark colors. God Bless and good luck. -

Report: Heres my FPT UPDATE. I went hog hunting, with no hogs to be found! The teams that produced in division 1 were fishing finesse style, not my line of attack! Clear Lake in the spring deserves aggressive fishing! My results were so poor that we didt even go to the weigh in. One fish under 2 pounds! Ouch! We through the dice and ended up broke! Congrates to the teams that did well and got a check. One of my friends fished in div. 2 and ended up with 16+ punds for 26th place, and just making the dollar cut for $100.00. That almost covered the entry fee. After speaking with him, he said they caught all of their fish ripping within a 35 minute time frame. It seems like feeding time on Saturday HAD A LIMITED WINDOW. Had fun, the weekend cost me a fortune, and cant wait for the next event!

Report: Me and my family are planning a trip to Clear Lake 'round May or maybe some other time during the summer probably on the north end in Lakeport. I probably have around 3 days to fish, and it's been a while since I was last here. Just wondering what I should bring for beginners to feel the passion for bassin that I have.
Tips: I dunno much about finesse techniques and colors. Should I go with a guide?
