Park Falls, WI – High school bass fishing is spreading like wildfire, and, each summer, the best teams in the nation duke it out at the High School Fishing National Championship. Qualifying for the event is an accomplishment in itself, as only the top ten percent of anglers at state qualifiers make the big show.

Miles Kaneko and partner Jared De Fremery, both 16-years-old, earned the win at the FLW High School Fishing Open this past Sunday, May 13 at Konocti Vista Casino on Clear Lake. The Delta Teen Team beat out their competitors with a five-fish limit of 19 pounds, 2 ounces.

Nearly one month after the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods was held on Lake Hartwell, a youthful generation of anglers launched from Green Pond Landing for a chance to compete in a championship of their own. The two anglers who exceeded that challenge were South Carolina freshmen Marshall Robinson and Mason Fulmer of Byrnes High School.

2018 FLW and SAF HIGH SCHOOL FISHING SCHEDULE
FLW and The Bass Federation have prepared a full season of High School Fishing tournaments for 2018, headlined by the 2018 High School Fishing National Championship and World Finals on Pickwick Lake in Florence, Ala. As well, the schedule includes 29 Student Angler Federation (SAF) High School Fishing State Championships, 24 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Opens, seven state high school athletic association sanctioned tournaments and three SAF High School Fishing Challenge tournaments.

The Scott County High School duo of Isaac Tackett of Jenkins, Kentucky, and Chase Clark of Georgetown, Kentucky, brought a five-bass limit to the scale Saturday weighing 9 pounds, 15 ounces to win the 2017 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Kentucky Open tournament on Lake Cumberland. The win advanced the team to the 2018 High School Fishing National championship, held June 26-30, on a fishery yet to be revealed.

High School All-American Anglers Compete With Pros On Trophy Bass Lake In Texas
When Reese Jones of Rogers, Ark., received notice that he had been selected as one of 12 members of the 2017 Bassmaster High School All-American Fishing Team presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods, he was ecstatic. Winning the honor meant he would be able to fish with a Bassmaster Elite Series pro during a special tournament in conjunction with the Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest benefiting Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
