On April 29 on Lake Oroville in Oroville, Calif., high school anglers from all of the western states can compete in a one-day tournament, the 2017 Costa Bassmaster High School Western Open presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, for a chance to compete for the national title.

Cabela's School of the Year Lead by Bryan College
With just two months left in the 2017 Cabela's School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia race, schools from across the nation are in pure competition mode, searching for every possible point they can earn to add to their total. As it stands right now, Bryan College remains in first place with a total of 1942 points, followed by University of North Alabama in second with 1878 points, and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in third with 1800 points.

16.82 to Win Berryessa Youth Division
The FPT’s new Gone Fishin Marine Youth Division, saw several high school/youth teams come out to enjoy the opening season fun and “represent” for their respective high schools and youth bass clubs, as the Future Pro Tour has always been about developing angler skills. These “young guns” flexed their skills, and clearly demonstrated - with outstanding performances, that they are truly the future of our sport.

Race for Top Collegiate Angling Teams Highlights Three Schools
The Association of Collegiate Anglers has released the first rankings of the 2017 Cabela's Collegiate Bass School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia race, and it comes as no surprise to college fishing fans to see some of the top fishing schools in the nation holding the top three spots. With over four months and 12 events now completed, the Murray State University bass team has taken an early lead in the season long quest to be crowned the best fishing team in the nation.

Brandon Card College & High School Bass Open
Bassmaster Elite Series pro, Brandon Card was the first collegiate angler to qualify and fish the Elite Series. Berkeley Springs Wins Berkley High School Fishing Challenge
Berkeley Springs High School recently won the 2016 High School Fishing Club Challenge. The Berkley challenge saw over 3,200 active participants (double over last year) and 239 high schools across 38 states represented. As the newly crowned champions, Berkeley Springs High School in Berkeley, W.V., will receive $4,500 in prizes for the entire club.

Twelve standout high school anglers from across the country have been selected as members of the exclusive 2016 Bassmaster High School All-American Fishing Team. The team will be invited to participate in a special tournament held in conjuction with GEICO Bassmaster BASSfest on Lake Texoma this June.
