Re: The Drought

Since 1965 the population in California has doubled, the climate remains the same. We have always had severe droughts during my life time, over 70 years. 1938-1939, 1968-1969 were wet cycles that ended droughts and we are still waiting for another wet cycle to end this drought. With double the deman...

Measure your battery trays before buying larger sizes, they may need to be changed. Think about AGM types when buying new batteries and look closely at the Optimum Blue top warranty when used for trolling motors. Group 27 good for cranking, 31 for trolling motors. The weigh in scale can be certified, however a commercial certified scale was used and clearly was less than 10 pounds while the fish was still alive. I doubt the IGFA would recertify a scale under these circumstances.

Re: Disecting a lake, how long before you move!

If you know the lake and know what is going on the decision is easy, stay with bite. Recreational bass anglers rarely know what is going on and tend to fish where and use the same lures that worked the last time on the water without considering seasonal periods. Tournament anglers have the problem o...

The reason some spoons are supplied with single hooks is because the spoon is used for multiple species, fish like salmon. The spoons are being fished more horizontal and a single hook penetrates easier into hard mouth tissue or the corner or the jaw, when a fast moving fish turns. I do this this wi...

Good to see you pop up Kelly. Spoons can make your day in the winter on most of our CA deep structured lakes. Please try to keep your deep depth around 50', deeper can cause brain damage to bass. I see the leading response is entry fee too high. If you adjust $100 back in 1980 it's about $300 today. Entry fees are about what they have always been adjusted for inflation. The only issue with multiple lake events today in SoCal is Quaggle mussels and that should be resolved. The lakes are booked for tournaments, just sit down and swap lakes between the regions.

The only reason to fish a bass tournament is to win. With today's format of single or maybe two lake venues winning requires too many hours spent on 1 or 2 lakes to be dialed in, giving the advantage to very few anglers who can win. The schedule should have at least 5 lakes to break up the local dom...
