Buzz, I give you credit for tryting, it takes time on the water guy. You can get shortcuts by going with some more knowledgible fishermen even though I assume that you are not. But, what the hell, everyone has been there, keep up with the sport.

Rich Thiel's advice sounds good to me. Apply color to match body of water you will fish. I.E. Shasta, use trout, Delta use, White.

Hi Buzz,
Your next trip out, you might try to increase your bag by launching at the spillway and throwing spooks early in Potters. Fish it quickly, then move in behind the marina with it and later jigs(1/4oz) in crawdad color(orange) right now. We are talking LMs.

Briad is a no-no with me, I prefer flourocarbon, 20 # in clear lakes and 25 # in dingy water that have tules or docks. A special swim bait rod built for the bait is preferred because of the tip action and lenght.
