Re: crank bait rod

We have lots of CB rods and you just need to find the one that fits you and the baits you're throwing. For shallow to mid depth CB's my first thought is DC 764CB. It's an awesome rod and one of my favorites. I rarely lose fish on it. I do worry if you're used to that 706 CB the 764 CB might feel lik...

We have tons of guys using the Champion 735C for frogging and it's very versatile for many Delta techniques. But, we also have tons of guys using the Champ 736C and in my opinion it's the best frog rod ever made. If you'll look around at the tournament boats on Delta you'll see this rod many times. ...

For a walking bait rod you could try one of our Colt Series. The Colt 734C is a great feeling rod for spooks. It's $79 retail too. Worth a shot really. It's a surprising great feeling rod for $79. I have a bunch of guys using it for Super Spooks and 1/2oz traps too. Just info. THX!!

Re: Topwater Rod?

In the Fury Series I'd say a 733C or a 734C. I made the Champ 734C many years ago as my personal Super Spook rod. I made it a tad slower to be "perfect". The Fury Series 734C is just a bit faster than the Champ 734C so many guys drop down to the FR 733C for walking baits. THX!!!!

Re: Delta trap fishing

The 704CB is an excellent rod for Shasta, Oroville, Pedro, and all the reservoirs like this in NorCal, but lacks the power for cover and grass in the Delta. There's really a bunch of rods that will handle traps in the Delta. I'll list some of the most popular: 735 CB Glass, 736 CB Glass, 705 CB, 706...

Spence I'm sure they'll all work on Folsom in certain conditions, but the 8" Hud has accounted for a lot of big fish on Folsom. If I was using one bait it'd be an 8" Hud in a ROF of 5 or 12.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Much appreciated!!! We have a Fury 795 SB for $129. It's a super popular rod and it's sweet spot is around 3 1/2 oz baits. It'll do more and less weight than that, but that's the sweet spot. If you're throwing a bunch of 1.5 to 2.5 ounce baits the Champ 794SB would be...

I can't answer for the Loomis rod as I'm not familiar with it. The the DC 804CB is an 8 foot Mod Fast crankbait rod. You can go up in power to an 805CB or an 806CB with us if you need more power and a Mod action. I have lots of rods stiffer than 804 CB. If I can help, let me know. THX!!!!

Dobyns is very strong with CB rods. We make many models from 6'3" to 8 footers. It seems you're looking at deeper divers and here's what I'd suggest. 805CB- best baits are DD22 and 6XD sized baits. It'll throw an 8XD decent. It'll throw a 10 XD but it requires a lob style cast and you will not ...

Truthfully I'm not sure it matters to the fish. This is almost always a reaction bite anyway. Just think with a heavy weight how fast that bait goes by them. I stay simple, Green Pumpkin and June Bug. I think it matters more to the angler than it does the fish. So throw your favorite. My 2 cents.
