Re: Colorado river reported going into D.V.!
I agree a state mandated control would probably be best but with the current budget I wouldn't hold my breath. Also, their is a concern over liability if the lake managers add something to a boat and it were to damage the bladder or other parts. Also, we can't control what Nevada and Arizona does or...

Re: Colorado river reported going into D.V.!
They are working on a common tagging and inspection system for DVL, Perris and Silverwood. Those are the lake which have good inspection protocols in place. Most other lakes don't want to put the money out to do inspections and so they aren't being included right now. I think they may also be tracki...

Re: Colorado river reported going into D.V.!
There has not been ANY Colorado River water put into DVL since late 2005 and the mussels weren't found until 2007. MWD divers are at the lake every month and checking for mussels. By law they have to report them if they find them. Also, if the mussels were present the anglers would be getting them o...

I meet with MWd regularly and the only water going into DVL right now is coming from the Sacramento Delta. They are doing all they can to avoid putting Colorado River water into DVL because they know once they do it will become infested with quagga mussels.

They are hoping to raise the lake about 6 feet in the next month or so and there is a chance that even more water may be available. This is all water coming from northern CA and NOT the Colorado River so no Quagga mussels. The lake went up about 1 foot in the last week.

Hybrids of smallmouth/spotted bass are possible as is smallmouth/largemouth crosses. I have also seen pure smallmouth that look like the pictures. Without the fish in hand it is not possible to tell what it is for sure.

Scott, I agree with alot of what oldshcool posted. I would expect a thremocline in the deeper part of the lake unless they have aerations system going. Re: ? for Mike G (or anyone).: weed spraying and disolved ox
Big Bear is a relatively shallow lake so it does take much to drive the D.O. down. Yes decaying vegetation will cause D.O. to drop. Aeration units can be of some help but they also can cause and increase in water temperature. If the water get to hot the trout will die. Also, the units need to be tur...
