Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 51 - 53
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Saturday, 2/25/12. Fishing was ok. Water temperature stayed between 51 and 53 deg and was clear to 10 ft. in most areas. In the morning, the main body had white caps thus we stayed in protected coves. As the wind died down in the afternoon, we moved north on the east side. We ended the day with 8 fish with one going almost 5 lbs. The rest were between 1 to 2½ lbs. Two of the fish were large mouth and the rest were spots. All were caught on or around points in 5 – 15 ft of water drop-shotting 4½ inch Roboworms. We also tried crank baits, jerk baits, Senkos and jigs with only a couple of unsuccessful hookups on a wacky style Senko. I also unexpectedly caught a trout on a 4 inch shad imitation Roboworm.
City: PinoleTips: Fish appear to be starting the prespawn.

Water Temp: 51
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Bass Busters of Yuba City fished a tourny out of Steel Park. Nice ramps but expensive. Great news, everyone caught fish! My day wasnt as good as the winners but I did catch 2 non keeper small mouths on drop shot, lost a good keeper SM, caught a nice spot, and then a real good smallie just about weighed 4lbs. My best smallmouth. I was stoked. All my fish came off points in 20 to 30 ft. Close to 17lbs took 1st and we had a few 16, 15, and 14 lb bags. Not sure of structure or depth from those guys but they came off of jigs, dart heads, swimbaits, dropshots, and shakey heads. Check out our club if you wanna fish a good club. Email me if interested.
City: Plumas LakeTips: Nothing too agressive. Not quite a dead stick but my bites came when I wasnt working the bait much.

Also tried jerk baits, drop shot, shaky head, Senkos, tubes, etc., in various colors with no bites.

Report: rite on glad to see others post. Fishing here is gona be slow for a bit still even when water temp goes up they still will be dificult to get, not many fish in the lake bad managment in the fishery. Yes there are alot of big spots in here mainly because the lake was so low for so long due to dam retrofit but there is still some big largemouths here aswell. Was out on sunday got only one a 5 lb spot. I fish this lake every weekend and you will get fishon drop shots and carolina rigs but generally small fish if you want to get hawgs be quiet and fish all terrain, very your speeds not alot of bass anglers so slow isnt always best i get alot of big fish flippin and power fishn but you have to be openminded untill spring worms and shad immitations work best deep channels w shallows near by, also for best results start early fish will shut off at 11 am good luck

Report: Crystal Clear water. Amazing clarity. Fish remain deeper (20-25 feet) moving up shallow later in the day. We caught nice 3-4lb fish in 10ft of less - but only after 4pm. Everything else was deeper. Find 20-25 ft water near deeper water, we got bit. Slow rolling spinnerbaits, jigs, plastics.
City: Pacific Grove, CATips: If you want to get bit, fish SLOOOOOW. Not a single bite on anything moving too quickly. Mixed bag on size, a few fish in 1.5lb range, many 2-2 1/2 lb fish; a few 3lbs and better. Did find fish in 15-20 when the wind kicked up.

Water Temp: 58
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The water clarity was more like 30 feet and fishing was tough for awhile but I ended up with 9 bass over 1.5# and the best 2 were about 2 3/4#. One bigger fish came off the bank in maybe 10' of water while the other bigger fish came out of 40' Of water. On the trailer by 1pm because I wore myself out throwing a stupid bama rig for an hour. Quit dropshotting after catching 3 trout in 5 casts at 30' deep.
City: OakhurstTips: I caught fish on 5 diff. things. Slow was the only common thing I can think of. No action on any reaction baits.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 53
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Weak fishing at berry this weekend. We hit the morning bite between 630am and around 11 and the afternoon bite between 2 and 6PM. Tried for trout and bass primarily. Turns out its a bit too early and the water temp a bit low for good shore fishing, which is all I ever do at Berryessa. We tried everything: hardbaits, salmon eggs, spinners, senkos and even live minnows with little to no results (one bite the whole trip.) We hit the same spots as always, under both bridges, in the coves.. better luck next time I suppose. Can't wait for warming water! Anyone having any luck?

Water Temp: 53
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: There are kokanee and king salmon in Berryessa as well as Rainbow trout. Not sure of when or if it is planted. There is a kokanee project that you can see on the way out of Markley Cove. The cages on the left side at the end of the docks are for kokanee. I was there yesterday and caught 6 fish mostly on C-rigged baby brush hogs. The size was really nice with the best 5 pushing 14 lbs. We had a 4 lb spot and a 3 lb largemouth as our largest fish.
City: WoodlandTips: 25-35 feet. Slow presentation.

Water Temp: ??
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Heading up to lake next week for 4 days. Anything? Water temp? Jig, Senko, Jerkbait, Spinnerbait bite? Shallow or deep? Any basic tips appreciated. Fished this lake for 25 years, but looking for indicator before first (of many) long trip of year.
City: Pacific GroveTips: Email or post. Mark? Jig action?

Sonoma Lake
-
Water Temp: 50 - 52
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Since we have been having such gorgeous weather, I was hoping the fish in Lake Sonoma might have moved into pre-spawn mode. Wishful thinking; didn't get a bite. I tried six different colors, sizes, and types of crankbaits, several different senkos, two different Brush Hogs, and two different football jigs with Smallie Beavers and Sweet Beavers. Fished depths from the shoreline to forty feet. Heck, I even tried to slow-troll nightcrawlers for Steelhead. After six hours on the lake and the loss of $40 worth of my best crankbaits, I called it a day. The day wasn't a total loss, though. Hardly any wind, sunny, and temperatures in the low 60s. Beautiful.
City: Santa RosaTips: The water temperature around the lake was still pretty chilly. After the water warms up another five degrees, I'll give it another try. Also, the water level is very low and the lake is as clear as it was in September and October. As much as I hate to say it, we need a couple weeks of hard rain.

Amador Lake
-
Water Temp: 50-52
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I decided to visit Amador since I was already in Sacramento. I launched at 4 pm, after one of Laurie Lockhart's great burgers!! I planned to fish yesterday because of the promise of cloud cover for the night. As usual this year, clouds came - and went within 2 hrs. All stars out by 7 pm. Before dark, I was fishing the Hemphill Special - a brown/orange Blade Runner jig w/ Yamamoto (#180) trailer and found the bite to be fair in the Jackson arm. My first 2 were hooked at 55 and 60 feet. So much for early spring movements to the shallows!! My next one was a nice one, 4 1/4 lbs, at about 25 feet. My final jig fish was 3+ lbs at about 30 feet. Just before dark I hooked another nice one but lost her. After dark, when the clouds left and the dew set in, I didn't have a bite! I left at 11 pm.
City: Yuba CityTips: My bass were caught on walls and off-shore ledges. Nothing on points. Lake seems down about 20 feet - just guessing. The trout fishing pressure is simply amazing and am not sure what effect that is having on the bass bite. Another father/son team was fishing for bass and said they caught 5 or 6 fairly shallow before dark.

Report: Averaging just 1 bite per 2hr trip. I broke off a big girl on a senko with #5 Maxima. Next trip I got a #3 on a beaver. No bites today.
City: OakhurstTips: Drag plastics slow? I don't know if the fish are refusing my baits or if I am not around fish. I am shore fishing BTW. I wish they would finish the dam ork so I could fish some better spots.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 51 - 53
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Thursday, 2/16/12. Sorry for the late report. My fishing buddy convinced me to submit one with the hope of encouraging more people to write reports whether you were successful or not. I tend to only write reports about very successful days. However, both types of reports are a help to others to be successful. My and my buddy’s day fishing was not good but it was ok. All day the water temperature stayed between 51 and 53 deg and the water was clear to 10 ft. in most areas. In the morning, the main body had white caps. So we stayed in protected coves between the Capell Cove launch ramp out to the main body at Spanish Flats. We caught two spotted bass with one being just under 3 lbs. In the afternoon, the wind died down and we moved to the Big Island. Around one small island we caught 3 more fish within 15 minutes. All were on the steep sloping side of this small island. Two were small mouth and the other was a spotted bass. One small mouth was just under 3 lbs. Also, during the day we had several other bites and/or unsuccessful hookups. All fish and bites were in 10 to 20 ft of water on a very sloping bank. We tried crank baits, Senkos and jigs but only drop-shotting worked. Six-inch MM colored RoboWorms and 4-inch prism shad colored shad imitation were used. The total weight of the five fish we caught was 10 lbs.
City: PinoleTips: If you catch one fish in a spot, there are usually several more there to be caught.
