Report: Launched out of Ladds around 8:30 AM fished Fourteen Mile Slough untill noon; caught 7 nice fish the largest was 4 lb'r using a rip bait. Caught most fish in 4 to 6 feet of water and for the first time didn't lose a bite on the rip bait.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Continue to fish slow...fist fish came on my first cast, I threw it out there reeled it down to depth gave it a coulpe of twitches, let it sit, reached down to get my pliers out and a bottle of water and when I gave it another twitch "bam" the fight was on nice 2lb LM.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished this last week and the Anglers Choice Tournament on the 4th. The pattern that fished the best was the reaction baits. The wind blew most of the week as it did on Sat. Rip baits and the Alabama Rigs worked great on the points and in shallow areas where females were cruzing looking for food and getting ready to spawn. Lots of bass on wall leading into coves as they are staging for the spawn. We ended up with 11.32 but top wieght was 17lbs+. Two large mouth came in over 6lbs. Jigs, drop shot, worm, senkos, blades, beavers all worked as well.

      Water Temp: Not sure

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I tagged along with Mike Sperbeck yesterday, checking out the bite - and because we love north wind!! Yea, right. Post-front fishing conditions were not the best, but the bite was ok - at least for him! We caught about 18 and he caught most of them - an off day for me. We had 2 smaller ones and the rest from 14 inches to near 3 lbs. One of them was a largemouth. I thought our best 5 was ok considering the weather - maybe 12 1/2 lbs. We hadn't been there for several weeks.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: He may fish an upcoming tournament, so I won't say much else. We did find concentrations of bass in certain areas, and nothing in other areas. As is normal in winter fishing, do your homework. Check out different structures, depths, and presentations. By mid-Feb, the location and type of bite will change more from day to day and from morning to afternoon.

Report: Well, someone needs to post a report - and it takes a real man to do this one!!! My buddy Mike Sperbeck had been there recently with his grandchildren, using minnows hoping for a better bite and it worked. He suggested we go yesterday and bring along some minnows. I said "you want to bring...WHAT???? I have only used those three times in the last 25 or so years, all at Clear Lake with clients that insisted. Hey - one of them got an "8" and a "10"! So, off to Bullards with minnows and "normal" lures. At least - no umbrella rigs in the boat! And it even rained a bit. Well, what can I say. The minnows produced Mike's first ever 7 lb spotted bass (7 lbs 2 oz), a 6-1, and a 3-13, I caught some of the "dinks" of course - a 4-5 and a 4 even. That made a 25+ lb limit - the best limit of spots I have ever seen. We caught about 6 or 7 smaller ones. Spots were on spots from 20 to 60 feet deep in about 4 different areas. Lake is up a few feet - looks good.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Well, there it is. We never saw the sun all day and water was flat most of the time. I would have thought the artificials bite would have been ok. I threw swimbaits some with no takers. We talked to some nice guys in a Ranger and they had one good fish early - I think on a jig - but struggled after. Saw 3 or 4 other boats and that was it.

Report: Having never seen the lake, I went to the first bluff rock wall and started tossing a deep crankbait. Two rock walls and two crankbait changes later an 7.90 lb'er was in the well. A little later a 4 lb'er and 2 lb. "rat" Smallie was on board. Missed two other bites....all told...3 fish = 13+ lbs.

      Water Temp: 52.7

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: overall clear, some of the drains were a bit murkey. I have recently moved here from NC and this is my 3rd trip to this lake. Granted today was in a storm I have yet to get bit on this lake from swim baits to crank baits, to drop shot. I know there are small mouth and spots in this lake and given the water temp I am excluding the florida stain Large mouth but WTF. I can go to MCClure and do well, so am I early or is this lake that much different?

Cold as the begebers today, rain sideways, and I was the only vehicle in Bartlett cove Lauch. That should have benn a clue. But we don't pick the weather on tourn days so I went.

Looking for a partner for the Randy pringle's new tourn this year, e mail me at my contact if you wants fish this circuit.
      City: Hughson

Tips: fish I graphed were in 80 -120 feet deep. That is beyound my comprehension coming from the east coast.

      Water Temp: 50

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The Bass Classics of Santa Clara Valley had a good time with rain, wind and clouds but good fishing. It was good in the morning on main lake steep rocky banks with everyone around us catching 1-2 fish the first hour on darthead worms and spider grubs in 20-40 ft of water. I used a spider grub and only had seven keepers all day but it was good enough for second place with 11.35 lbs. In the afternoon the fish moved back in the pockets and coves and into 10-20 ft of water. Ray Garcia won with 11.75 lbs and he was dragging a split shot worm on long slow tapering points.
      City: Fremont

Tips: Fish slow and hard and with a light weight I was using a 3/8 oz football head darthead on my spider grubs in 15-45 ft.

Report: Great to have winter here finally. This storm brought the lake level up which is awesome for the first storm of the year. With that much water intering the system the incoming water pattern was one I wanted to try Sat. It was a great pattern and bass were chaseing bait fish in the muddy water. We were throwing blades had bumps but no comentments so we went to drop shot and finesse jigs to pop some nice 2 1/2 to 3 lb spots. Great day

Report: Hello BassinZ118...no worries on the date, I watch this pretty close and know when something's new. Your tip really made sense...funny, it's an ironic situation using a reaction bait but still fishing it "slow"...I didn't get a chance to try it the way you describe...45deg angle casts to weed edges but that's almost how I work my cranks, both lipless and square bill. I was leary about using my Staysees because they dive so much deeper than the depth we were throwing, but all it took was less cranks to get to depth. I only have 1-2ft and then 8-10ft Staysees. oh, and I agree, a fish on the hook is a fish on the hook, dink or not! :) I have just as much fun! That tip allowed me to have action on an otherwise anticipated hard fishing day! THANX HUGE!
      City: folsom

Tips: When I worked the docks, most hits came in the corners or else maybe 5-10ft inside the end of the dock. That's where my brother got hit. We'd crank down to depth, twitch a couple...then let sit 15-30secs..twitch again, wait....reel in cast again. Didn't have to wait long between hits. Can't wait to try this on the weed edges where I normally crank. I gotta believe it could make a difference if they shut down on my cranks.
