Water Temp: 48-52
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Blasted off about 6;45 on a fairly warm morning for this time of year. Only a slight ripple on the water. Fished the usual early season smallie haunts on the cemetary side. Lake isnt quite full yet, down about 4ft and still stained. Started off throwing crank baits, no takers so switched to a tube, again nothing. Made a real good move and wow, were on em` fast and furiouse. Caught 7 fish in the 2.5 to 3.5lb class out of one small area in about 1hour, all on crankbaits. Decided to give it a rest and look for another pocket of good fish. Picked one off hear and there off points but took a while to find another group like the first one. Fished in the back of the willows on both sides of the lake with only a couple fish here and there. I think those areas will improve over the next week or two. Found a nice mixed group of fish on a flat near a drop off on the east side of the lake. Took 6 more fish out of one little area in the same size class only this time we got a couple large mouth in the mix that were a couple onces shy of 4lb. Off the lake at 2;30 with a total 19 fish, all over 2.5lb, biggest fish going 3.13 to Jack.
Keith-13, Jack-6. Man I need some fresh meat. Might have to take a trip with Kevin to really test my skills. All in good fun of course.
City: MedfordTips: Fish are definately staging right now so be looking for those classic shallow water points and humps with deep water close be and allot of spawning water real close. Use reaction baits that cover allot of water to find some fish then probe the area to see how many fish are actually there. The fish we caught were taking the crankbait deep in the mouth so we were sure we were on the right pattern for the day. Good luck and good fishin`!!

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: 58
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished a club tourney on Sat and had a great time with my boater Jay. Terriable day on the lake 1 smallie on a crankbait. Thanks to the gentleman who gave up the cove to us, very polite. Wish we could have had more but it was fun.
City: Plumas Lake -
Water Temp: 59.6
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished at dawn and put 4 in the boat by 1:30pm. 2 fish came on brown jigs, one on a home poured worm and one on a tube that we were given by another angler a couple weeks ago when we took his picture with a nice 7.3 bass.
City: SacramentoTips: Fish slow on main lake points with wind blowing onto it!
-
Water Temp: 58 early
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Started at dawn on island by ramp, tossed jigs, six inch swimbaits, top water swimmer, no contact. Got light moved to main point, repeated, one bite on jig, missed it. Moved to spawning cove off pennisula where I've taken some big fish, threw big spook for onbe half hour. I stayed out of tomorrows tourney prefishing way, many boats shot pass me, I hope they did good. Later in the mornining (still not getting fish) I drove up river to a flat point with a break and took a 2.75 spot and a 1.5 smallie. Moved off it quickly and went to NY outside to a spot, no takers. Skiers, and other craft seemed to be everywhere and did not keep away from the 200 ft zone on shore nor did they keep away from me. I left, I guess that's why I always fished Pardeee and the Delta this time of the year.
City: sacTips: Respect tournament anglers who are prefishing and especially give them leadway at tournament time. With a weather system coming in, I would like to be there, but I'll sit at home and catch up on my "honey-dos".

Water Temp: 59-63
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Spent the weekend with the in-laws and got in on some great fishing. Started the weekend out right with the first fish going 6-14 on a x-rap (ghost minnow). Continued to catch 20 to 25 fish on the weekend, fished Saturday AM & PM and Sunday PM for a total of maybe 8 hours. Caught fish on everything from Robo worms, Senkos, Chatter baits, Rip Baits, jigs, and swimbaits. Had a blast catching a ton of 3 lbers. Had a really nice one get off right at the side of my yak that was well over 7 lbs. All I saw was a huge mouth as it surfaced beside me and spit my swimbait back at me.
City: Rocklin, CATips: Work senkos around the docks to catch a ton of fish. If you

Lopez Lake
-
Water Temp: 57-61
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished for four days. Fished the large zoom brush hog in watermellon candy pitched tight to the brush. Most strikes came immediatly. All fish on the hog were at least 2-3lbs or better. Wittenburgh and Arroyo produced the bulk of our good fish. Found a few bed fish that wanted to go in back of the coves in the brush pockets. Crank bite was very good DD22 in fire tiger or the new slick color produced alot of good fish over 3lbs. After it warmed up the texas bite on 8" dark colored worms were successfull. Thowse brush hog fish were alot of fun to catch! Chartruse blades were also good for a few keepers.
City: Baldwin Park, CaTips: DD22 fished down until it hits bottom and pause it. Wham your bit on the pause. Brush hogs need to hit the base of the brush or inside the pockets. Fish heavy line if you want to keep those fish from wrapping you up!

Mendocino Lake

Water Temp: 60-62
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went out and fished a club tournament saturday. i wasn;t expecting the bite to be red hot but i hoped we would get some fish but i was wrong. At least we didn't. There were 8 teams everyone but us got a limit. We started out at long point my partner got one on a speed trap then we fished two rock i lost two there on a blade. Then we went to cropy and watched three guys in a 12 foot aluminum pull out about a 15 pound limit we couldn't get touched there so then we went to the dam could'nt get bit there either. I threw everything i could think of but didn't get touched until about ten minutes before weigh in i threw my drop shot up in about 1 foot of water on the dam and after two seconds there went my line i set up fought er for about 1 minute had her at the boat it was at least five and a half but the hook would'nt stay in her mouth so that was that we took last with 3 fish for 4.82 pounds.
City: UkiahTips: STAY HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nacimiento Lake
-
Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: the bite was decent, but not great at all by Naci standards. numbers of smaller fish and plastics, but nothing over 2lbs. the fish I caught were on steeper rock. some of the usual flats edges I like yielded nothing. lots of traffic was on the lake, including a couple of tournaments. FYI to anyone reading this who is/knows someone in the club that had their weigh-in down next to the "old ramp" at the water's edge - it isn't cool to throw bass through the air when letting them go. I saw at least 3 people literally tossing bass 15-20 feet through the air from the water's egde. Not only does this make us bass fishermen look bad to the average joe, but it's just bad for the fish's health. after coming out of a livewell, being weighed, and put in a bag you gotta try harder do the right thing for the fish. walk over to the deeper water (20 feet away dummy) and let 'em go. don't ever let anyone in your club get away with this...
City: SBTips: keep moving around - spots don't like to sit around in one area.

Nicasio Lake

Report: Took 4 kids fishing today and we had 14 fish. Kids biggest fish went a little over 4 lbs on brush hogs and senkos. On my second to last cast I stuck a 10.4 lbs donkey on a swim bait.

San Justo Lake
-
Water Temp: 60
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The dense algae or pollen bloom that had covered the lake yesterday had disappeared by this morning. Lots of boats on the lake again today, both trout trollers and bass anglers. Popoular places get filled up fast, so fishing options are reduced.
John got two nice bass today, a 2-10 and a 2-6, both on the T-rigged craw plastic. I landed three today, two 4-8's and a 2, all taken on a white buzzbait. We usually don't even throw a buzzbait unless there is a good ripple on the water. Today I tried one off a muddy bank when the area was glass smooth, and that's when one of the 4-8's took it. The other two came off rocky banks when the wind was blowing pretty good.
City: MontereyTips: Try buzzbaits near shore or soft plastics in the 6 - 8 foot range.

San Luis Lake

Water Temp: N/A
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: A little late reporting but the last post just wanted something.Well got there at daylight not much wind, yet.Well started out with top water fished about an hour nothing.Switched to jerkbait and picked up 3 all 24" about four pound's.Then the fog came in on top of the pass about 9:00 am and if anyone know's this lake it also bring's in the 40 mph wind's well it did.
Had to switch tactic's and started throwing Rat-L-Trap and picked up four more all the same 24" fish.Well i couldnt stand the wind anymore so i was off the water by 11:00am.Thought i would run over to LBC where i have been hammering the Bass but it was just to windy.
City: SalinasTips: This was my first trip over there this year i usually wait until the middle or end of April but i am going again this Saturday calling for clear sky's in Salinas so the wind will not be a factor.
Jerkbait's and Trap's and Fluke's on point's now later on when the lake start's dropping fish the large flat's with same lure's good luck.

Covered a lot of water both north and south from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Water level is up about two feet and stained compared to last week. Aside: One of the two trumpeter swans that hung out in past years at south end beyond the bridge is missing. The remaining swan is now paired and hanging out with a goose. What's up with that?
City: Santa ClaraTips: Vary retrieve with rip baits...pausing for five seconds or longer can bring strikes.
