Shasta Lake

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: My wie and I took the boat out or the irst trip and spent the night on it. Spent more time learning about the boat than ishing that evening. Wind blew all night and was pretty cold. Up at 0500 and pulled anchors and ound a likely place by 0530. Water pretty muddied up rom all the boat traic rom the day beore. Threw a jitterbug I'd had on rom the night beore and stuck 3 with the biggest about 2.5#. Had several blowups that the ished missed the bait and had one come un-buttoned. That bite died about 0730 and I drop shotted 2 more getting one at a solid 2#. The other 3 ish were typical 14" Shasta clones. 5 bass or about 8.5# beore 8 am.
City: ReddingTips: Sleeping on the ront deck is like sleeping on the sidewalk! Bring a good oam pad and remember, even i it's a 100 degrees at 4 pm, it's gonna be cold at 5 am.

Water Temp: 75-78
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: In the water at Packers at 540 am, air temp 63, lake muddy, ran up the Mccloud near the birdhouse point or a couple o dinks as the wind came up to approx 15 mph which using top water a bit tough, ran up urther to Shallow point to get out o the wind and no top water bite to be had or me, started thowing jigs and getting hit short or a bit then put 6 more in the boat with two at 1.8 and 2.4, moved over to a little lat point that is very shallow and got bit big time in 15 t on a MGM #109 twin tail grub, the ish ripped o some line towards the rear o a houseboat and I got him in at a solid 4.5lbs, nice at spot. Moved upstream again about a 1/2 mile and poked around in the back o some coves, nothing happening, wind picked up a bit and tried some more main lake points until the jet skis started up at 745 am. All my ish this am came between 705 and 725 am. Traic got heavy in a hurry so I ran back to packers bay, out at 830 am, air temp up to 76 and climbing ast, temp will hit 105 today and maybe thru tuesday.

California Delta
-
Water Temp: 80
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: My buddy and I launched out o Paradise at 6am. We headed up in the Fourteen Mile area and saw there was good water movement so we started throwing reaction baits. Ater about 15 minutes o nothing on a blade, crank or topwater, we started pitching plastics. On my irst cast I elt a solid thump and set the hook on a 7+. We then continued up the bank and caught another 15 ish over the next 1 1/2 hoours. Almost all o the ish were a solid 2 to 3 pounds. About 8am we decided to run up in the Whites area and experienced pretty slow action or an hour or so until I hit a beautiul 4 pounder on a plastic. We managed to catch another 10 or so and were o the water by 1:30. About 20 o the 25 ish caught were keepers.
City: RosevilleTips: Don't know where the reaction bite went. Over the years, a reaction bite has pretty much been a given in the summer i there is water movement, but this year is dierent. It's usually either a blade, speed or rattle trap bait this time o year, but the plastic bite seems to be the ticket or us. No speciic depth, as ish were caught in 2 to 8 eet o water.

Los Banos Lake

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: 6 am started at the N end o the dam & worked its length w/top water, cranks, & worms or two strikes on Shad Rap & 1 dink on split shot 6" purple death worm. Headed to N bank W side o day camp & worked it to the blus again w/top water, cranks, & worms w/same results but this time my wie boated the dink using a 4" motoroil culy tail worm. Moved to the west side o the creek mouth still ishing the N bank & worked it to the upper end. Our son got several hits that seemed to be very small bass on a golden shiner color 4" Fluke. Headed to south bank tules across rom creek mouth & we all boated a couple more dinks & I caught one 12 1/2" keeper using 4" green weenie style worm split shotting. The biggest thing hooked all day was when I slipped tryin to change my crank bait & ran the rear treble past the barb into the meat o the tip o my middle inger. My wie & son wanted to cut the line & throw me back since I was just a big trash ish but they let me sit down & slowly push the barb orward until it was exposed so I could bend it down then back it out so long as I promised not to whimper to loud & interupt their ishing.
City: DelhiTips: Water level has dropped 4' to 5' since July. Talked to a guy who boated 4 keepers to 4 lb. & he caught them early working the tules & weed beds in 10' o water at S end across rom creek mouth using top water & jerk baits.

Report: Fished rom irst light till noon. Fish are deep to 50 t. ater the sun is up, some action on top water early. Main reason or posting, there are several islands coming up all over the lake. I was looking or an Island top in the middle o horseshoe and ound it unmarked less than a oot deep not ar rom a huge water trough that is only 2 eet deep. I lagged down the sheri and we marked the hazzard but I know there are a lot more coming up soon. The old railroad tunnels are about hal way out and the tressels at Barrets won't be ar behind, you're gonna see stu that you have never seen in that lake beore i you're new to this sport and McClure. Be careul.
City: Le GrandTips: Dropshot 40-50 t. there is a ton o bait in this lake.

Pardee Lake

Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I started early and took a dozen small to medium largemouths an smallies on a Heddon Tiny torpedo at the mouth o the river. They were on the lats near the mouth o the river and hit the lure as soon as it hit the water. The bite lasted less than hal an hour and then like someone threw a switch-it was over. I couldn't buy a topwater hit. Over the next ew hours caught several nice smallies on Berkley Frenzy crankbait. All-in-all a good day.
City: PleasantonTips: topwater early seems to be hot. Crankin at 10/12 oot depths seemed to work also.

Shasta Lake
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Let Bridge Bay @ 5:45 A.M. run over to the Big Backbone, wind calm, water lat. The lake is still dropping ast and we can't expect any serious rain or two more months, the lake you see today is not like the one you see next week, it is hard to establish any pattern that is consistant. My irst ish today was a 3.5 spot on topwater boated a total o 10,two on a jig and the rest on topwater, lost another 3+ spot at the boat line broke and he got away with my lure which was ony three casts old, Bite stopped about 8:30 A.M. so it was back to work at MGM Lures.
