Moved north and found some SM holding on rock walls picked up 6 most under sized one did go 2LBS. Checked out some weed lines and finaly picked up a topwater fish going 4 plus on a spook. Over all not bad for this time of year only fished from 7-12.

Water Temp: 76-82
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: .......
August 20th-27th..........
This last week was off and on, some days the fish were willing to bite and then some days it was tough to get a limit.
I fished mostly in the south but I did spend some time up north. Our best fish were caught on the Ganesh Bug fished shallow, and also caught some nice ones on swimbaits and top water.
There was much less algae this week, some cooler nights and wind helped to break it up.
City: Clear LakeTips: In the south try fishing deep with jigs and drop shots, up north try frogs or plastics. Try football jigs and drop shots
in the rocks close to breaks or on the deeper side of the ledge.
Fishing top water and frogs will work but you might have to cover allot of water and run around during the day. Timing is critical so recheck your spots during the day to see when the bite is the best.
Have Fun ! .......steveperkinsfishing.com

Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: a surprisingly good day considering they poisoned the lake again last week to kill the weeds. There were still quite a few weeds, and the poison didn't do a thing to the coontail grass. Dan got 2 good ones right off the bat on a dark buzzbait, and that was all she wrote for him, although he did lose two on a dark cb later. I Caught most of mine on a black and red cb. 2 that were #5 each, a #4, and a couple of three's. The big fish ate a hardnose in a foot of water, and it weighed over #7.
City: auburnTips: Darker colors seem to be the ticket today which was strange seeing how it was overcast most of the day.

Report: What a windy, cold and wet morning for the anglers of Basin Bassmasters. The day started out dark and wet, dark clouds. I headed over to my first shot with my partner Bonner Veasman. He was using a Buzz bait and boated our first five, let them take it before you set the hook.
One came on a chatter bait. I then replaced three with a black/blue Senko off rocks in 3-8 ft. Stay with the tide moving. Later we moved into Sicamore and called out three more. At the weigh in we had a bag of 13.25 lbs and the winners bag was 15.50 lbs with a 8.12 lb kicker that came off a sped trap craw color.
City: RocklinTips: spinner baits, chatter baits, crankin and Senkos.
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 6-8 and caught 2 Bass on Rat L Traps to 2 1/2 lbs. then caught 2 undersize stripers walkin the dog on a skitter walk.

Camanche Lake
-
Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished for 2 1/2 days last weekend. Caught and released over 50 bass both largemouth and spots. Biggest was just under 5lbs and took several in the 3-4bls class. The big fish were caught early and late on top water (PopR). The rest were caught on either shallow crank or drop shot in 1 to 5ft of water in grass lines. Great fishing. WX was very cool with a front approaching so the bite was off the hook
City: Foster CityTips: Chug bait or prop bait top water early and late evening around grass edges. Fish very shallow crank baits and 4" worm drop shot in the weeds.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Friday. Lazy start about 8am. Caught 2 fish in 18-20 ft on carolina rig baby brush hogs. Moved to a rock dock area and caught 2 more in 12 to 16 feet (lots of bait in the water). At 11:30 moved in and threw frog on mats around rocks and docks. Caught 4lber on frog> no other blow ups. tossed my drop shot in shade of dock and caught 1 more. 6 fish from 8:30 to 1pm. Went in. Fished again on Sunday, ran north and wasted a lot of time throwing buzz baits and frogs on mats off shore. Nothing. Moved to county park area and caught fish on spook, jigs and carolina rigged brush hogs. Tons of bait everywhere. The jig fish hit while swimming it back, so I tried rippin. Had one chaser to the boat no strikes.
City: clearlake oaksTips: Fishin is tough lately. So I hope the info helps. I know I appreciate the posts. Have fun! Bruce

Report: Boy it's been some time since I have fished here. The plan was to chase Striper boils but that did not happen. Well after two hours I decided to fish for Bass.It was pretty good I ended up with 7 fish 4 Smallmouth and 3 Largemouth. Two of the Smallmouth were 3lbs the other two about 2lbs.The largemouth about 1.5lb's.All cought on plastics and I think if you were to target the Bass it may be pretty darn good.I was a little disappointed in the Lake level thought it would be higher.
City: SalinasTips: None I am going to hit it Saturday and see whats up.

New Melones Lake
-
Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished mostly up river above Parrots ferry bridge. Top water popper bite great early on rock walls with wood. Crank bait bite decent mid day when wind picked up. Caught a few on texas rigged worms. Caught mostly small spots. Only two largemouth came up the coyote arm. One about a pound on Norman crank the other a three pounder on t-rigged worm. Where are all those nice 2 pound spots that used to hammer everything? Should I be fishing the main lake? Any advice would be welcome. Tightlines everyone!!
City: Bishop Ca.Tips: If you want to get a kid hooked on fishing. Find wood on rock walls upriver, and throw topwater early.

Water Temp: 77-79
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Big brother and I launched New Hope 7am, missed high tide so went straight to fav tule strips halfway between B&W and Tower Marina/H12 bridge; picked up about 6 or 7 on craw color lipless cranks...couldn't draw interest on speed traps. Bro caught on beaver tail/jighead. I also picked up on darthead/black neon worm, drop-shot/oxblood 6" worm, and senko (confetti kinami and pumpkinseed/chart tail strike king senko lookalike...thought I'd throw something slightly different). Then went up first 1/2 to 1 mile of White Slough; picked up couple more on senko and dropshot...bro got another one on his beaver tail/jighead combo. Forgot how much gas we had (or didn't have) so went back in around 4pm. OK day with lots of dinks and a single limit of 1 to 1.5lbers...hit and miss, no real pattern.
btw..riverat, i was real surprised...this is gonna sound funny, but several ski/board and huge cruiser/pleasure boats slowed down to pass us while we fished...I did the same for other boats....the only boats that didn't slow down as they passed were.........bass boats....and I waved to them and they just looked and ignored me. guess maybe cuz i was in a deepv and not a ranger/triton/nitro/etc etc. oh wait, a couple did wave back. well, sometimes people are concentratin' on maintaining control of their boats while at high-speed, yeah? well, that's one way to look at it so I don't get too upset. :) tight lines everyone. deepv's fish4 and catch bass too!
City: folsomTips: try everything worth trying...every time i turned around, my big bro was changing up...and sooner or later, he was settin' a hook. so be willin' to change up and don't get stuck or limit your options.

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: N/A
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I think its safe to say that i am a LEGITIMENT seasoned vet when it comes to fishing Folsom and I dont need to flatter myself and lie to other fisherman to prove my man hood on catching bass on this lake! I have basically fished this lake the same exact way for the last 18 years with great success all year around. This last sunday i told myself i was not going to render to the same patters that i always have and i went out with the mentality to fish places that i have never given second thought to as i drove by to my primary spots during this time of year, which is normally the Northern most part of the lake! I picked up the deepest diving crank bait i had with 12 pound Floro on it and to my suprise i caught the best bass in 18 years fishing this lake! It was a 7.4 pound largy who looked every bit of ten years old and very healthy! I ended up doing really well this time of year on the drop shot odviously but with the kicker it was still only a 12 pound limit with a couple nice spots in the mix! 12 pounds this time of year out here is a great sack and VERY REALISTIC IN TERMS OF WEIGHT FOR 5 FISH! The area i fished was actually between peninsula Campgound and the Pipe along the North Eastern side of the lake up the north arm! There is no secret to the hidden humps and structure in this part but there is normally to much boat traffic to fish it Methodically! The Narrows and Anderson Island are ALWAYS my number one producing spot where the channel comes in contact with the two adjacent points. Always do well here dragging plastics and Top Water in the PM and early AM.
City: Citrus HeightsTips: I left my email for anyone who feels the need to ask me questions concerning my day and what i used to catch my limit! Im also not afraid to share my local knowledge (Which happens to be the point of this site) with anyone who loves to fish and wants to catch some healthy Folsom Bass. Try new water.. get out of the normal mind set and give new things a try! I havent thrown a Crankbait on this lake in 10 years and i caught the best bass of my life out here on one! Makes me wonder what ive missed all these years!???

Water Temp: cooler
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Man, what a trip with you know who, Mr. Folsom himself. I learned more in four hours than I could have learned in 20 years by myself.
City: loomisTips: Drop shotting the way to go in areas I never would have fished, no wonder he is the man.

Mendocino Lake
-
Water Temp: 80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Put in at 0700. Trolled the channel for stripers. None. Swithced over to blacks. Spent the rest of the day in the channel. Tried all types of top water. Got a blow up on a frog. Caught a smallmouth on a dropshot. Throwin Maverick Ross's receipe. Caught a 2 lb largie on a blue and black rodstrainer jig with a sweet beaver trailer. Bass are on the rocks. Not the wood or flooded timber. Not in the shade. Got a few followers on a DD 22.
There are thousands of yearling bass in this lake everywhere both largies and smallies. Next year should be better.
City: Redwood ValleyTips: Find rocks in 15 to 25 feet of water. For a few bites.
