Report: I heard that medford bass had a tournament hear the weekend of the 22nd and not one report. Cant say I blame em`, from what I heard I would have kept my mouth shut to. Maybe even denied I was there...Thinkin` they were one week to early..As usaul, cant be to specific as this lake is just to small. So Jack and I started off on the right side of the lake in our usual haunts. The water is as high as it can get in the lake and still pretty stained. Was tough to pinpoint our off shore spot but once we did...WOW...it was on. Got 4.8sm and three more well over 3lb. Moved around a bit for two more sm over 3. Headed into the willows for a 4lb lm on a windblown bank with a white spinnerbait. Caught many dink sm and a handfull of 1-2lb largemouth as well. It was a total reaction bite and the fish were crushing the baits. Craks and spinnerbaits ruled. Best five went 17-18lb. Great spring day on lake rip-a-hog. Oh ya, Jack got one sm about 3lb and lost one at the boat. Not bad for him....LOL Cant resist a good ribbing when I get the chance, fall will be here before you know it and he WILL pay me back for sure.
    City: medford

Tips: Dont let yourself fall into a habbit of going to the same old spots throwing the same thing and expect the same results as last year. Easy mistake to make on our local lakes. Yes, spawn water is spawn water every year but presentation is everything and you cant choose that until you are at the lake. I normaly would have thrown plastics but with the wind and stained water I knew I had to get more agressive and it paid.

Water Temp: low 50 maybe 40

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: arived at the lake about 8am, sunny with clear skies but very windy. started off with a crank pattern focusing on points with no fish. 9am fishing a section with big boulders my partner pulls a 3lb largemouth on a crank. very light colored and cold reminds you that it must be winter and these fish are deep. took off from there and fish a few more key spots with a few hits but no fish. wind finaly started dying off so before we left we stopped at the spot where we caught the only fish. pulled 3 more largemouth out of the same hole dropshoting 4in. worm from 1-2lbs and half a dozen more hits.
    City: central point

Tips: fishing a fast reaction bait like a crank sould catch some first thing but after that focus on finding the fish with your graph and get over them and dropshot 20-40ft was the area we seen them in. slow your presentation down watch your line and be patient.

    Water Temp: 50-51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Nothing like snow to for the confidence you need this time of year! At least the gate was open at 7;15 this weekend. It was snowing when we launched but not sticking. Started off fishing in the area of the dam to the left. Jack stuck a good`n in the first 15min on a jig and pork. Didnt stick her good enough though as it came un buttoned about ten feet from the boat. On these cold mornings it is sometimes harder to hold the rod on a hookset than to get a fish to bite! Did get about four more strikes in the area of this dam. Fish seemed to be short striking, not real agressive like two weeks ago. Moved down the bank to a couple of our ol` stand by fall, winter spots. Found some biters off a sheer bluff in about 20-25 feet of water. Once again they were short striking, couldnt get a hook set. Jack was sticking with his J&P combo and I was mixing it up with a crankbait and jig n pig. Crank wasnt getting hit at all. Fish in this area were to deep to get down to with the crank. Moved across the lake to a slower taper bank to do some crankin.I got crushed right away bay a 2.75 bronzback and that was it for the crank bite. Got no jig bites on in this area so moved back to the deep bluff to try and salvage the day. Jack did manage to hook one 1.5 largemouth out of about four strikes. Not sure what we could have done to get these fish to commit to the bite but at least they were trying to co-operate. Our bad I guess. Of the lake at 12;30 with only the two.
    City: Medford

Tips: If I had more confidence with plasticks in the winter I would have probably done some drop shotting right on top of the fish we found on the bluff. I just dont like drop shotting our spooning or any type of veticl presentation for that matter. Bet it would have paid off had we tried it.

    Water Temp: 53-55

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Dont know if anyone is still reading this but to all my old buddies from the Rouge Valley Bassmasters I`m givin` a big shout out. As you all know they dont open the gate till 7:30 if your lucky so we tend to miss the best bite, however it wasnt a bad day on the lake. Could have used a lite breeze for some cover but anyway....Jack and I caught 11 fish total. Big one was 3.9lb largemouth and a 2.75lb smally both on crank baits. I caught them both. Jacks big one was about 2.25 lg mouth. He`s kind of a chump.LOL We were surprised not to have gotten into some larger fish but were pleasantly surprised at the number of 2lb-der`s. Tells me that the lake and the future is healthy. I wont give up to much info as the lake is very small and I`m a little selfish but I will put in a good tip for you hog hunters.
    City: Medford

Tips: Prime time for gargantuane bucketmouth`s is right now! Large fish dont like to waste energy. Find an area that transitions from feeding area to resting area with as little movemant as possible and your odds of figuring out lake rip-a-hog`s late fall secrtets will increase a great deal. Those of you who know who the caracters in this article wont argue that we have taken our share of pigs from this lake, especially in the fall.

Report: Well, since Western Bass doesn,t seem to think that Oregon bassfishers aren't important enough to put a few southern Oregon lakes on this site, and since nobody seems to want to leave any reports anyway, this will be my last visit to this site... It's really too bad, this COULD HAVE BEEN a great way to share information with others and also learned more about our sport.... Oh well ! ! ! ! Tight lines anyway..........

    Report: Another report for IRONGATE.....
Got on the water about 5 p.m. A few small fish (1 keeper) in Jenny Cr. on jigs and Senkos. Headed to the Narrows and picked up 3 more decent fish on the big rock face. My son stuck a couple of 2 1/2-3 lb. fish on watermelon Senkos, texas rigged with a 1/4 oz. bullet weight. I got a few on a green Kreature bait, and one keeper on a brown jig.
    City: Medford

Tips: Water is down about 6 ft. since Tuesday. LOTS of weeds already. Try the outside weedlines for bigger fish.

Report: This report is for IRONGATE... Nowhere else to post, so I thought I'd put this here because it's the closest alternative.

Got on the lake about 4:30 p.m. Started at outhouse point. Stuck a couple of small fish on green, green/red Kreature baits. Also one on Pumpkinseed Senko. Moved across the lake to the Big rock ledge. Five or six fish (1-2 lbs.) Several on brown jigs, a couple on Kreature. Pulled one nice 4 lb. about 15' deep on ledge. Headed towards Jenny Cr. Caught another 6-8 average fish (and alot of dinks) on jigs and Senkos. Mostly brown and green. One more 4 lb. on left side of main chanel near Jenny Cr. Fished until after dark, hoping to catch a frog bite, but it never happened. Had one fish blow up on a white/chartreuse buzzbait, and one strike on a green frog. May be a little early...
    City: Medford

Tips: Water is WAY up. Alot of trees and brush to attack. Most of the fish came off the bank. Skip under the limbs as far as you can. Seem to be pretty shallow. Good Luck!!

    Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: This report is for Applegate Lake..... A friend of mine from Portland was visiting for the weekend which gave me a good excuse to go fishing on Applegate..... Ran into Jim from Crater Bass Club early in the AM and he said that he and his buddy had caught two smallmouth at that point.. One on a jig, and one on a Gitzit.... My friend and I tried points, willows etc, etc and one finally smacked a white spinnerbait but came unbuttoned (and it was a Leverage spinnerbait) A few minutes later my friend hooked one on a Senko, but it jumped and that was the last we saw of it... We then went up Carberry creek to where the water temp dropped to 49 degrees and fished out from there..... Finally, hooked a SM on a chugbug that measured 16" and weighed 2 pounds... Said hello to the Sheriffs patrol on the way out,a nd they just waved us on by, although we had seen them check just about everybody else on the lake.... Tyhat was just about it for the day, weather was overcast all day, it rained some, and the wind blew for a while, but you know what they say about abad day fishing and a good day working......... The lake is as high as I have seen it in years, and abosloutly beautiful.... Now if I could just get the fish to co-operate.............
    City: Williams, OR

Tips: Although the fishing was pretty slow, I did have a few smaller fish chase baits right up to the boat, thought a slower presentation might work better, but had nothing hit except for that one fish on the Senko...... Go figure.....

Moved out to main body and fished along eastern bank with no luck, left around 2:00 PM. Beautiful to see lake full.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went to Lost Creek Saturday, on the water at 2pm and left at 7pm. Fishing was decent, I took the family today and we caught at least 15 smallies with the biggest(2lbs) coming on a rip bait. All of the fish we caught until 6pm were caught on grubs, then I got on a rip bite for less than an hour before we left.
    City: central point

Tips: The lake is full and fish are getting pretty aggressive, as soon as the weather stabilizes for a few consecutive days you should be able to easily catch smallies on anything you want to fish. The weather was cloudy/scattered showers and I still had to wait in line to launch, I guess spring is finally here.

Report: I fished emigrant sunday and caught about a dozen fish, most small but I did catch a couple of smallies around 2lbs. I was on the water around 2pm and the sun was out but by 4 it was raining pretty hard I got off the water around 7pm.(I had enough of the rain) I caught all of my fish on soft plastics from the bank to 15ft. Most of them were caught on grubs and a few on 4" worms.
    City: central point

Tips: I'm sure there is an explanation, but I am getting frustrated that westernbass has still not added more southern oregon lakes.
I didnt see any blacks over 14" cruising the shallows
