      Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Nice water temp but struggled with the bite. Managed 4 fish today with the biggest about 2.5 lbs. Suprised reaction did not do good today. lake is very low. Jigs got them for us today.

Tips: Find the bait and you should pick up a few right now. Points were best for us.

    • Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Sorry date was actually February 23rd on previous post.

    • Water Temp: 53-58

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I made a quick trip Sat afternoon to look around and meter some new spots. Took one of the last parking spots inside Markley. Yes - the lake is getting pounded! I did fish some, but couldn't land several that I hooked. One a nice 4+ largemouth jumped and spit my drop-shot Robo worm. I did land a 2 1/4 lb spot on a smallie beaver. I spend a lot of time checking the north/east area, which I don't fish much. I did some rippin' and did manage to get a 3 1/2 largemouth to take my Staycee 90 - in 3 feet of water! I lost another rip fish too. Fun afternoon!

Tips: It is still a big lake - and if and when some of that brush gets flooded again - the future should be bright. The best structures I found were long flats in about 10 feet of water that dropped off to 30-40 feet on two or three sides.

    • Water Temp: 57

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Sunday 2-23 6am to 3pm. Caught four 3lber's on a rip bait and a crankbait first thing around hat Isl. Worked our way towards narrows focusing on main lake points catching only one using dart head and dropshot. Once past the narrows, the fishing picked up catching 6 more using same technique including 2 jig fish. Fish were related to points and banks that transitioned from mud to rock or little rocks to big rocks. All fish were healthy fat 2.5-3lbs.

Tips: Caught all fish shallow around 15ft. Colors were cinnamon, oxblood and blue. Jig was brown/purple. Fish were aggressive hitting seconds after the fall. Fun day.

    • Water Temp: 54-55

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Did not get an early start. Went out with Jim for first trip this year after getting some good intel , thanks Scott! Fished only the south mostly Redbud arm. First fish about 9:40 and then 10:20 both near Indian then a big lull third one in the afternoon on rocks at Rattlesnake. Lots of boats set up on key spots not leaving at all. Then back to Redbud in the afternoon, even more boats then. Little after 3 Jim hit 3 about 5 minutes. The slow moving pointer was the key. 8 fish total 7 were Jim's but he did credit me for putting him on the fish. Nothing on Jig, Swimbait, Drop Shot, crank bait or the "stupid" A- rig (there is one more of them on the bottom of the lake though). All fish were on jerk baits and no fish caught over 10' deep. Big fish 4.8 - best 5 went 17+. Beautiful day on the Lake, some wind but not enough to hurt. Water was stained way back and cleaned as you moved up. Saw a few A-Rig fish caught by tourney guys. Thanks Bob at redbud bait shop for the sticker / tips / hospitality, and for Jim's new pointer.

Tips: Fish seem to be moving up already! Contact Scott before you go and get the latest skinny.....

      Water Temp: 56

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished up the river inlet and managed to get some very nice fish. 5lb large, some 3-4 pnd smalls and a few spots. Caught all fish on reaction. Ended up with about 20lbs.

Tips: Like Larry said with the flats, the only difference is we found flats that went from 1-30 within 30' from bank. Good luck fishing is good there right now and should only get better.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

    • Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished yesterday with Leo. Slow day for us, dirty water and rising water really slowed the bite for us. Leo managed 2 spots, both right at 1.5 pounds. Me o fish!! Leo also managed to hook a salmon on a roboworm. Great fight, took about 5 minutes to land the fish. Fish was 6-8 pounds and looking good. Released to catch it another day. Me, tried all types of baits, it didn't help me. Leo got his fish on roboworms, in about 30ft of water. We fished deep, shallower, still no bited for me. It sure makes for a long day when you don't catch fish. My first ever skunked day!!!

Tips: Anyone with a boat looking for a fish partner, let me know and lets catch some spots. Email me at Jewelweaver@earthlink.net

    • Water Temp: 50-52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Mike Sperbeck and I decided to see if we could repeat the 30 lb limit thing - and we did - barely. Actually, our trip last week was better than I reported. I thought I heard him say my big fish was 7.36 lbs, but she was actually 8.36 lbs. That gave us a 34lb 6oz limit. We started yesterday afternoon and actually caught 5 nice ones before dark, up to 5 1/2 lbs. After dark, Mike put on a show - hooking bass after bass, including an 8.12 and 7.76. He made up for his earlier bad trips. That's right - he caught 12 and I caught 4 - ugh!! I was pleased that some of the new places I wanted to try worked for him - HE caught all the good fish! Well - that must be the "guide" in me!! So, 30lb 3oz for our best five, on a beautiful, windless night.

Tips: Again, most of our bass were in the top 15 feet of water. One or two maybe 20 feet. The baits we used are easy to report - all jigs with various trailers. I tried Senkos and deep crankbaits - nada. We got some of the same "crunch" bites like last week, but many were just pressure bites - maybe because of the previous north winds. All of our bass were on or next to some type of major ledge or dropoff.

    • Water Temp: 51.3-54.4

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Left ramp at 8:15am back to the ramp at 1:30pm. Headed to school house, narrows, skiers cove and main body off shore points up to 40 feet deep. Tossed a rigs, deep cranks, drop shot and jigs with craw trailer's. Missed a few and caught two largemouth and one smallmouth up to 3 lbs. All on the jig.
      City: Napa

Tips: I work hard to find the one I did catch. With the h2o temps were they are I thought it would have been a little more wide open. Maybe I should have tossed a few jerk baits. Fish were either suspended at 12 to 25 feet or on the bottom. Good luck

Caught 2 bass 5pnd and 2 pnd bass with a "sway" back. Weird looking fish. Tried other areas, but Deep Cat was where they were and should have stayed there.

    • Water Temp: 48-51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: After a few slow trips, Mike Sperbeck and I decided to give it another go. Glad we did!! We started about 5 pm and quit at 11 pm, out of Red Bud. Mike got the first one - all of 8". Where did that one come from in the winter?? He got one more before dark - much bigger, and then things became exciting! I didn't have a bite until 7:15 when a big bass crunched my jig!! I set in self-defense and soon landed a tail-walking 7.36 lb bass. Very nice first bite!! We then moved to an area that isn't fished much by us or anyone else. Soon big Mike is grunting and hollering - NET. He must think it is another 11! She went 8.52 lbs - yes, I had big fish for about 15 minutes!!! In the next hour I caught 3 between 5.9 and 6 lbs and we both had more in the 4 1/2 lb range. We were able to do the 30 lb thing early this year - best 5 at 33 lbs 6 oz. We had 10 bites each - I landed 8, Mike 6 + big fish. A very fair and square trip for both of us, making the tow home a piece of cake!!

Tips: I caught all my bass on black/chartreuse Blade Runner and old Weapon jigs, with a 6" single tail Yamamoto grub. I think Mike was using a double-wide Beaver some of the time, and probably other baits too. None of the quality bass were deeper than 15 feet. Most were caught on off-shore structure. Rare to only wear a jacket during a Feb night. Cloud cover kept the air mass rather pleasant and probably helped the bite!

    • Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at Bidwell about 7am, fished till about 11 am. Slow fishing today. Fished Bidwell area for most of the time, nothing, not even one hit. Moved to a few spots in the main lake and managed 3 spots, average size. Wood is beginning to float, so be careful. Fished mostly roboworms, texas and drop shot. Better days are coming so get ready!! Lake appears to have come up 7-10 feet by today. Just need 190 feet more :>)

    • Water Temp: 56

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Today was the first decent weather since the lake opened last fri. The water In the south end looked just like chocolate milk!! Was a lot clearer on Northern end. Fished 12-3 and only caught one on a jig. Tried a few different reaction baits and an A-Rig. Even pulled out the dropshot and couldn't get bit. Never fished the lake in Feb before. I think the fish are off shore in deeper water.

      Water Temp: 56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On water at day break and headed toward the east end of the lake to fish second ramp and tulles. Got one about 13" on a rip bait. Pitched senkos, drop shot and jigs to tulle clumps with no luck.
Moved to Island points and still could not find them or get bit, finally got one about 4 lbs on a texas rig bold blue gil worm. Slow day for us but others caught them pretty good. Tournament won with over 21 lbs. In the last half hour noticed all of the boats were in bunches out on the island tops and structure.

Tips: Seemed like everyone was fishing dead slow, we fished as slow as we could go but I still think we were fishing too shallow. Seems like 30 feet was the ticket.

    • Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fishing has been for me "really good" or "really slow" this last month. Normal jig and worm bite in the typical 10 to 40ft of water on deep structure. Fishing real slow. Best fish have been comming out of deep water to 60 feet on the shad using heavy flutter spoon. Fished the last 2 WON Casitas Region Tournaments by Rich Tauber. Great tournament Rich. Thank you. Really looking forward to the next few weeks when the fishing should improve. Take care.

Tips: Been really tough but still manage to grind a few fish in the boat. Jigs/worm on the deep points and Spoon deep where the shad are. Been working for me.

Report: Sonora Bass Team Tourney out of Moccasin. 20 boats. First Place 14 and change. Winners big fish 6.11. Rainy and wet all day but the wind did not show too bad.

Tips: Fish are from 50 to 20 feet in pre spawn. Smallies, Spots and large mouth. spider jigs and senkos seemed to be the primary baits with a couple reaction bites finally.
